Job Definitions beginning with P:
Package Engineer = Person with the responsibility of overseeing the daily assembly, packaging and fabrication; also, ensure that contract work is carried out according to agreed contract specifications.
PDMS Designer = Person responsible for piping and draughting design work on the PDMS (software) system; ensuring that all design work complies to standards; also, surveying current sites and designs and working towards improvement. Continued below
PDMS Piping Designer – Oil & Gas = Person who designs and produces piping layouts and piping supports using PDMS design software.
PDMS Structural Designer – Oil & Gas = Person who prepares studies and drawings for all offshore structural projects (including design of modules, skids, platforms etc.) using PDMS design software.
PDS Designer = Person who designs and creates piping systems through the PDS (software) system; also, includes checking plot plans, tie-in schedules, gas and isometrics and changing and managing PDS (software) design; this includes on-site responsibilities of site surveys for piping and supports, and identifying the shortfalls in material.
PDS Piping Designer – Oil & Gas = Person who designs and creates equipment / piping orthographics on the PDS modeling system.
PDS Structural Designer – Oil & Gas = Person who creates and prepares plans and detailed designs/drawings on the PDS Software Design system to be used for engineering or manufacturing purposes; also, design piping and related components.
Permit Specialist = Person who plans and reviews work permit processes and procedures, and advises those concerned with regards to requirements to be followed, as well as the problems and concerns.
Petroleum Economist = Person who watches and reports on the changing economics and prices around the petroleum sector, advising on these changes and creating plans that take them into account.
Petroleum Engineer - Well = See Petroleum Engineer
Petroleum Engineer = person functioning as integrator, connecting subsurface and topside engineering activities to bring oil or gas from the reservoir up to the surface in an economical manner, safely and with little damage to the reservoir or facilities; also, this person may manage material resources and contractor relationships, supervise drilling personnel.
Petroleum Geologist = Person who is highly involved in the oil discovery and production processes; also, often the person(s) who discover oil or oil deposits; also, decide the exact location where drilling should occur and study the well's integrity.
Petroleum Geophysicist = Person involved with the exploration and discovery of oil and/or gas much like the Petroleum Geologist (see Petroleum Geologist) except using the principals of physics in the study of geology (quantitative physical methods : especially by electromagnetic, radioactivity and seismic methods.)
Petroleum Specialist = Person who provides information to the public and/or governments regarding operation and regulation of onshore/offshore petroleum facilities, complaints, environmental issues etc; also, evaluates, selects and trains the necessary staff; also, provides technical assistance for drill permits; also, reviews well locations and facilities, focusing on environmental matters.
Petrophysicist = Person responsible for combining knowledge of the logging sensor physics with the understanding of oil and gas geology, with the goal of quantifying and ensuring quality control of petrophysical data from services that are independent of conveyance and in open and/or cased holes, with the view of determining the hydrocarbon production capacity, lithology and the fluid saturations of a reservoir through a single well data set.
Pipe Support Designer = Person responsible in assisting the discipline engineer in meeting all the project requirements, and performing all the pipe supports technical duties with competency and efficiency.
Pipelay Engineer = Person responsible for all pipelay designs, such as ramp design, build and commissioning; developing and executing pipelay installation analysis.

Piping Designer - AutoCAD = Person who has the responsibility of piping design using the AutoCAD design software specifically.
Piping Engineer – Oil & Gas = Person who determines the scope of piping work and estimates the workforce and hours involved, creating improvement and execution plans.
Piping Inspector – Oil & Gas = Person who analyses the piping work closely and informs on corrosion, dangers, etc. as well as keeping in mind environmental, safety and health regulations.
Planner - Maximo = Person who creates service and asset strategic plans with and through the Maximo system. Maximo is a service management and strategic asset system.
Planner – Primavera = Person who creates scheduling and project planning with and through the Primavera system. Primavera is a Project Planning system.
Planning Engineer = Person responsible for reviewing plans on a project and for developing improvements, understanding the scope of work, and ensuring all plans fit well within the necessary regulations.
Platform Erection Crew = Person(s) who are responsible for the fabrication and erection of the platforms themselves
Pneumatic Crew = Person(s) who undertake all the responsibilities and manual work involved with the Pneumatic equipment.
Process Engineer = person involved in the design and maintenance of chemical processes; Related – process design: the process design can either be the modification or expansion of already existing facilities or it can be the design of new facilities; the design basically starts at a conceptual level and ends in the form of fabrication and construction plans.
Process Technician = Person involved with maintaining and repairing all the electrical and electronics of all process or processing equipment.
Procurement Advisor = Person who advises on the best pricing, suppliers and quality of procurement needs.
Procurement Manager = Person responsible for the overall planning, material planning and logistics involved with procurement.
Procurement Specialist = Person who advises on the necessary spares, equipment, materials needed and understands these needs.
Production Engineer = person who monitors the wells and recommends measures to increase the efficiency of the production.
Production Operator = person having as duty the managing the flow of the oil and gas from downhole through processing.
Production Technologist = Person with overall responsibility for Production Engineering on projects, determining optimum production systems and delivering conceptual designs; also, evaluates the performance of the existing systems and recommends improvements.
Project Controls Engineer = Person who provides overall project costs, schedules, estimates and progress measurements, as well as change management recommendations; also, monitors the contractors in cost control, schedule control and progress.
Project Controls Specialist = Person who coordinates and oversees the internal and/or external flow of information relating to the project management, project completion etc.
Project Engineer = Person who is involved with all the engineering design and development for the particular project; also, responsible for supporting the Lead Engineers, operational functions and propose methodologies in accomplishing goals in the project; also, participates in risk assessments and ensures all proposed equipment is operating according to specifications.
Project Manager = Person responsible for the project from planning to execution to completion, coordinating and managing all the management / supervisory / engineering staff etc.
Project Services Coordinator = Person who supervises the activities of the Project Controls Department, being involved with procurement, planning, document control, invoicing and cost control.
Project Services Manager = Person responsible with developing the performance and management level of Services; also, involved with Project Cost Estimating and Cost Engineering.
Proposals Engineer = Person who prepares the tenders and ensures that all is in accordance with the procedures and systems of the Company; also, organizes the workload of the tender team and decides on budget, as well as market trends.
Pump Mechanic = Person who repairs and maintains all the mechanical problems and/or needs of the pump systems.
Pumpman = person working as the assistant to the Derrickman and can work in the mud pump room or assist as a Roughneck on the drill floor when required; also known as Assistant Derrickman.
