1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

A sober, reliable, and self-motivated, junior officer from a seafaring family. With the enthusiasm and willingness to undertake new tasks and training in order to further my knowledge and experience. Can work equally well either, individually or as a team player with a good sense of humour.

A Trinity House Cadet, fortunate to have experienced work on a variety of different vessel types trading both nationally and internationally, having qualified as OOW Deck since November 2007.
Experience gained during the cadetship included time on the following vessel types;
· a multipurpose vessel carrying containers, general cargo, RO-RO, veg/palm oil and up to 12 passenger capacity,
· a buoy tender also up to 12 passengers capacity and,
· a sail assisted passenger vessel 308 passenger capacity.

Currently employed by British Petroleum Maritime Services (BPMS) as 3rd officer and to date have gained knowledge and experience on product tankers and crude carriers.
Vessel sizes throughout my time at sea have varied between eighty six and two hundred and fifty two meters, with manning levels between twenty five and one hundred and ninety eight often with mixed nationalities.

Duties whilst onboard during both cargo and navigational stages of the voyages, have included being in sole charge of the watch or, single handed, except where required by port, statutory, or company guidance and regulations or; where good practices dictated otherwise, also frequently assisting as a team member in a supporting role, as appropriate.
e.g. during topping off, or stripping of tanks during cargo operations when the chief officer is directly responsible and extra personnel are required for increased workloads. Also including where master's standing orders required, or during drills and exercises, in accordance with my specific instructions and emergency duties.

Maintenance duties onboard were carried out in accordance with the planned maintenance system and various job matrices, or, as directed by the chief officer, also including the following;
General maintenance of the ships fabric in accordance with the permit to work system, portable and fixed fire fighting equipment, lifesaving equipment including lifebuoys, H2S escape sets, lifeboat, rescue craft, helicopter equipment and emergency towing equipment for example. I also assisted with weekly corrections of charts and publications, checks on navigational equipment, flags and signalling equipment.

Where possible understudying the various duties, roles and responsibilities of the second and chief mates. Experienced at third mates level for anchoring, mooring operations whilst berthing at various different ports worldwide, ship to ship, SBM mooring and cargo operations offshore. Together with maintaining a safe navigational watch as part of the bridge team whilst, transiting coastal areas, ocean passages, Suez and Panama Canals, boarding, offloading pilots.
Including heightened level security and high traffic density areas. While navigating and working in all weather conditions.

M.T Serenity – Isle of Man Douglas
1 Voyage – 3 months
Product Tanker (Ice class) with framo cargo pumps.

Transporting both black and white oil cargos
Round the world voyage including, Mexico, Venezuela, US, France, Iran and transit through Suez Canal.

Product Tanker with framo cargo pumps.

Carried only clean oil products including Avjet and Gasoline.
Traded around Australia, except for a 3 week period in Singapore, in order for the vessel to undertake its first dry-docking since delivery. During this period I was responsible for overseeing the tasks I was assigned by the chief officer to ensure they were conducted safely in line with BP’s policies and safety procedures.

Buoy Tender, which maintains, lays and retrieves all U.K. navigational marks, including fog signals, lights and beacons whilst ensuring all are correctly positioned around the British Isles. Carries out occasional hydro graphic survey work and information obtained is updated to the UK Hydro Graphic Office for updating of navigational charts, and M-Notices currently in use.
Lead the Fleet review at Trafalgar 2005

Sail assisted vessel with 308 passengers.
Traded in the Caribbean during the winter and Mediterranean in the summer months.

1 Voyage – 3 months 15 Days
RO-RO, General Cargoes, Container Cargoes, Vegetable, Palm and Coconut Oils. 12 Passengers, Round the world voyage including transit through Panama and Suez Canals, and island hopping in the Pacific Ocean, South China Sea, Singapore and Malacca Straights, Indian Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Red Sea, North Atlantic Region.
