Quality Assurance and Quality Control Manager for Eaststroy the main contractor on the completion of construction and commissioning of Booster Station No. 2 (BS2), Gastello, Sakhalin Island, Russia. Specifically employed to improve the QA/QC department processes in order to facilitate the smooth hand over of mechanical completion and commissioned systems. The department is also responsible for the coordination of all subcontractor documentation and certification and final handover to the Client, Sakhalin Energy.

August 2004~~> April 2009
Client site Quality Assurance & Approvals Manager on the construction and commissioning of the Onshore Processing Facility (OPF) for Sakhalin Energy Investment Company (SEIC) based on site in the North East of Sakhalin Island, Russia. Main duties include the installation, maintenance and improvement of the ISO 9000:2000 Quality Management System, including Technical Integrity Verification coordination, Audits of the SEIC Construction Management Team (all disciplines) and the main construction Contractor and lower tier Subcontractors. Within my quality remit I am responsible for the document control centre, certification and turnover process and handover packages for both Western style and Russian Federation documentation. The second aspect of my duties is the coordination of The Technical Supervisory Body (RGS) required under the Russian Federation rules and regulations. I have successfully merged the Company and Contractor QA/QC & DCC/Handover functions into one integrated team focused on quality and the achievement of project success.

March 2004~~> July 2004
Site Manager resident in Egypt working for SGS (Societe Generale de Surveillance) on the inspection contract for the construction of LNG Train 1 for the Egypt LNG Project, Damietta Port, Egypt. Damietta LNG Construction LLC (Kellogg Brown and Root) is the Client and Spanish Egyptian Gas (Segas) the Owner/Operator.
Responsible for the Management of the inspection contract, including Costs, Administration, Quality Assurance, Health, Safety & Environment, programming and coordination of the Engineers and Technicians work loads, liaison with the Client and attending daily and weekly production, contract and HSE meetings.

February 2001~~>February 2004
Project Quality Manager based in London for Nishimatsu/Cementation Skanska Joint Venture, Responsible for all QA/QC, Document Control and Self Certification functions on the Channel Tunnel Rail Link extension, Contract 220, London Tunnels West. C220 is a major civil works contract, value £150M and consists of 7.5 kilometres of twin bore running tunnels utilising PCC segments, SGI linings, cross passages, two ventilation shafts and head-house structures, poured and sprayed concrete and diaphragm walling techniques.
Duties included; installation and maintenance of the Contract Quality Management System, Vendor assessments, Internal and External audits, Subcontractor and Works monitoring.
The project operates using Key Performance Indicators, Partnering and Alliance initiatives to aid control, cost benefits and continuous improvements. Integration of systems with HSE.

October 2000~~>February 2001
Resident in Tunisia working for Costain Oil, Gas and Process Limited as Project
QA/QC Engineer responsible for the offsite and onsite supervision of the local fabrication/installation Subcontractor on the extension to the British Gas, Hannibal gas processing plant. The extension included process package units, civil, structural, mechanical, piping and electrical & instrumentation works.

October 1996~~>September 2000
Continuing employment with Whessoe LGA Gas Technology Limited (now a Kvaerner Group company) as Quality Manager and Construction Manager Designate, responsible for all Corporate and Project QA/QC.
Directing a team of dedicated QA engineers, certification engineers, document controllers, vendor inspectors, site based QA/QC expatriates, and implementing, improving and auditing Quality Management Systems to ISO 9001.
In 1997 I managed a project team who successfully gained the Company accreditation to the ASME B & PV Code to design and manufacture “U” and “U2” stamped vessels.

July 1990 ~~>September 1996
Employed at Whessoe Projects Ltd. Darlington, as Senior Quality Assurance Engineer in the quality assurance and technical services department to implement and gain accreditation for the Quality Management System to ISO 9001, and to formulate plans & procedures to control all aspects of corporate and project quality assurance, welding engineering and technical services for projects based both in the UK and overseas.

Trained to audit, investigate and improve the BS EN ISO 9001 Accredited Quality Management System, assess suppliers and define Clients specification requirements for each individual project.

As part of my duties I have spent many periods on various sites, including 10 weeks in Malaysia qualifying a full set of welding procedures in high strength quenched and tempered steel and implementing a site quality control system for the local subcontractor to follow.
This has involved follow up scheduled audits.

I have also spent 6 weeks on Ascension Island and 6 weeks in Taiwan (Jan/Feb1998) trouble shooting and improving quality control.
In 1996 I was cross-hired to Borealis in Portugal for 8 weeks to engineer solutions to a weld cracking problem and manage a local subcontractor to carry the repairs of two 9% nickel steel ethylene process spheres.
In addition, I have also carried out audits at WLGA sites and suppliers/subcontractors in the UK and overseas.

Studied full time at Teesside Polytechnic for my Higher National Diploma in Engineering
(Fabrication & Welding/Quality Assurance) and within this period I successfully undertook two BTEC higher level units of Quality Assurance which are equivalent to the requirements of the Institute of Quality Assurance Management A3 papers, and trained as a quality management systems auditor.

I also completed a quality assurance project for a local fabrication and engineering company, wrote procedures for the quality system manual and conducted internal audits to BS 5750.

During this period I also attended Cleveland Technical College where I studied for my adult teachers certificate, and taught part time at Longlands College Middlesbrough.

Employed by Inspectorate OIS as a Welding / QC Inspector and site supervisor at various engineering and fabrication companies, on projects for the MOD and Davy McKee and also on a large outage at Thorpe Marsh power station (CEGB) Doncaster.

Employed by TIME Limited at Redpath Engineering Services as a QC and NDT Inspector examining vessel manufacture for ICI, structural steelwork, pipework, and offshore jacket tubulars for the BP Gyda Project.

Employed by Report Inspection Limited on Contract to Chevron Petroleum as a QC Welding and NDT inspector covering erosion monitoring of pipework systems, vessel inspections, and all aspects of fabrication and welding associated with the maintenance and topside surveys of the three platforms which make up the Ninian Field Development.

September 1984 ~ May 1987
Employed by Northern Counties Inspection Limited as a NDT site supervisor and co-ordinator at THC Fabricators, Hartlepool, with the last three months being spent at an offshore crane manufacturer at Great Yarmouth.
My main duties were to co-ordinate and delegate the day-to-day activities of a large team of
multi-disciplined inspectors, carry out inspections, and control the generated documentation.
During this period I compiled and produced QC procedures covering all categories of NDT and also had input into estimating and the formulation of tenders.

Projects included topside and jacket construction for Amoco Leman G, Shell Inde N, Arco Thames Complex, sub-sea templates and pipework for Union Oil Alpha Heather, Occidental South Claymore, grillage and barge modifications for Shell Expro, Hamilton Bros. Esmond Complex, Britoil Clyde field development and Hereema.

January 1983 ~ September 1984
Retrained as a NDT inspector in Ultrasonics, MPI / DP and Welding Inspection.
Worked as a NDT Inspector at both McDermott's site at Ardersier and Highland Fabricators site at Nigg Bay in Scotland, on the Conoco Hutton TLP topsides and floating pontoon.

October 1973 ~ January 1983
Employed by British Steel Corporation Teesside as a mechanical / multi-craft and non-craft shift supervisor at Lackenby Works.

My main duties and responsibilities were to maintain and repair plant and equipment, delegate and co-ordinate the various mechanical and fabrication and welding tasks that needed to be performed in order to maintain production in a continuous process plant.

During this period I successfully undertook the National Examination Board in Supervisory Studies Certificate at Teesside Polytechnic on a block release basis, and spent two years on day release at Leeds University, Harrow Road, Middlesbrough, studying Industrial Relations and Management Techniques.
