DIRECTOR OF FILTERSOFT SALES & CUSTOMER SERVICE
• Led industrial filtration & separation sales team and 400+ distributor organization through post-merger integration. Standardized dealer agreements, pricing policies, sales tools, reporting and forecasting methodologies. Using Six Sigma lean methodologies increased the overall product line profitability by 7% without raising prices. Directed P&L administration, production, marketing, sales and customer service.


SIGNIFICANT IMPROVEMENTS; The Woodlands, TX 2000 to 2007
SENIOR CONSULTANT
• Provided consulting and contract management to early stage, small manufacturing and emerging technology companies assisting with distribution strategy, market research, company formation, establishing technology partners, business planning, funding, customer service and turn-around.
Engagements included:
o Established groundwork for a multi level sales and distribution program in North America, for an early stage tablet PC developer including drafting dealer distribution agreements and identifying discounts.
o One-year assignment to develop dealer network for handheld laser measurement product sales into construction, mining, forestry and GIS applications. Laid groundwork to establish master distributor program replacing in-house dealer management. Outsold production capacity in first 90 days, resulting in a 120 day backlog, leading company to outsource production. Production capacity remained behind demand for 12 months.
o Took two-year engagement to establish policies and procedure to support sales, service, business development and channel partner activities for a venture backed manufacturer of GPS surveying equipment. Added dealers in Europe, Africa and the Americas. Led the negotiation and formation of a Chinese joint venture company for manufacturing and distribution throughout the Far East of integrated software and hardware systems. Implemented technology documentation and patent processes to protect the company’s unique architecture.
o Short-term assignment as COO to write business plan, form company, negotiate licensing with technology partners and raise over $1 million capital for a technology start-up company seeking entry into the M2M control and GPS based wireless location based services (LBS) market.
o Accepted one-year engagement as Director of Sales & Marketing (Acting COO) to lead turnaround of Houston based GPS vehicle tracking company marketing to construction and service industry. Tripled call center sales, restructured manufacturing operations and renegotiated component sourcing contracts bringing the 5 year-old company profitable within 11 months. Hired VP of Operations and presented the company to investors resulting in multiple offers of $ 4-12 million to invest in the company.


TRACKING TECHNOLOGY, INC.; Carlsbad, CA 1998 to 2000
Vice President/Co-Founder
• Pioneered the concept and core technology for a Start-up technology development company focusing on mobile tracking applications combining the Internet, digital maps, relational database software, two-way wireless communications and remote position sensing. Directed hardware and software technology development for Internet, relational database software and two-way wireless communications. Prepared and presented company overviews to the investment community. Prepared statements of work, design specifications, and applied for additional patents. Identified candidates for strategic alliances, selected design and manufacturing partners. Negotiated technology, supply and software licensing agreements.

• Recruited to manage marketing and sales of wireless access controls and door operator business unit. Directed 25+ technical sales professionals as well as 100+ member worldwide rep organization. Exceeded all revenue targets. Secured and managed key accounts up to $2.5 million. Forecasted sales, defined and set product pricing plans. After acquisition of Stanley Whistler gate business realigned U.S. sales forces. Worked closely with General Manager to combine and integrate factory, achieving highly improved levels of organization and productivity. Grew distribution channel sales by 23%. After integration, sold the gate and door operator business unit to Chamberlain LiftMaster.


ROCKWELL COLLINS, INC.; Cedar Rapids, IA 1996 to 1997
PROGRAM MANAGER (MAGR)
• P&L responsibility for manufacturing team of 50 people that increased productivity by 22% through improved labor and purchasing methods and increased product line profitability by 58% producing $34 million. Prepared and presented quarterly financial review of activities under management and maintained personnel turnover under 7%.

ASSOCIATE CONSULTANT
• Tested product hardware and software and developed user’s manuals for Leica Guidance and Navigation Systems (formerly Magnavox Marine Systems and now part of Brunswick). Provided proposal support for pursuit of U.S. Coast Guard contracts for DGPS systems. Technical support to Lockheed and McDonnell Douglas for RFP activity with U.S. government. Did market research and created a trigger video for market management training at GM Hughes. Developed and filed patent for core technology used for remote tracking and monitoring of remote assets, people and vehicles (Patent issued in 1998 and led to start-up company).


MAGNAVOX ELECTRONICS SYSTEMS COMPANY; Torrance, CA 1989 to 1994
REGIONAL SALES MANAGER – MARINE DIVISION (now part of Brunswick)
• Led worldwide sales team reorganization including inside and outside sales representatives, sales managers and field engineers as well as independent representatives, international agents, dealers and distributors. Products supported were satellite navigation (Transit & GPS) and communication (INMARSAT) systems. Pursued and won selection by U.S. and Canadian Coast Guard of MX200 as the standard GPS navigator for all service vessels. Coordinated, set-up, and staffed annual trade show exhibits. Presented technical papers at industry conferences and symposiums worldwide. Introduced the first GPS receiver board (GPS Engine) for embedded OEM consumer applications.

SENIOR PRODUCT MANAGER – GOVERNMENT DIVISION (now part of Raytheon)
• Developed numerous products and engineered systems to meet requirements within budget objectives and program timelines including OEM GPS receivers for range simulation (SAWE-RF) and precision timing (SINCGARS) applications. Part of team that introduced the first low cost commercial GPS receivers and applied the technology to a DGPS Upgrade for the AN/SRN-25 Transit Navigator installed on all U.S. Navy and NATO vessels. Developed a Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) GPS receiver suitable for military and harsh environment applications. Delivered systems to military customers in the US, Canada, Sweden, Germany and Egypt. Product line was profitable within the first six months of shipments.


NORTHROP CORPORATION.; Los Angeles, CA 1985 to 1989
PROJECT MANAGER (B-2 DIVISION)
• Supervised the development and installation of secure networked UNIX maintenance data development and data retrieval systems for classified aircraft development facilities at Lockheed and Grumman Aircraft. Negotiated several multi-million dollar contracts with government agencies successfully raising the total value of the contract to more than originally proposed. Developed business plan to sell the Improved Technical Data System (ITDS) commercially for non-military applications. Developed commercial software licensing and technical support program for ITDS.

• Directed the final certification and deployment of automated test equipment for inertial guidance and navigation systems on MX intercontinental ballistic missiles.

PROJECT ENGINEER (F-18 PROGRAM DIVISION)
• Directed the development, manufacturing, certification and delivery of radar test program sets for the F/A-18 aircraft to the U.S. Navy and to foreign military agencies in Canada, Spain and Australia. Provided financial cost control and engineering direction and oversight to a $12 Million retrofit program for radar test equipment being deployed to military maintenance depots worldwide ensuring completion on-time and under budget.
