I have worked as Civil Engineer for a few years for several engineering consultants. My main responsibilities mostly were to design and supervise structural works as well as civil works. I am familiar with a few British Standards like BS8110 and BS5950 but I can also learn relevant codes necessary like Eurocodes.
I have experiences in operating several engineering computer programs such as; finite element base programs like StaadPro, EsteemPlus, MicroStran, Orion, non-finite element programs like Esteem 5.2, Prokon, CAD programs like AutoCAD, Microstation, TowerCAD, ProgeCAD and documentation programs like Microsoft Offices, OpenOffice and Adobe Reader. I have used Microsoft Project before and I can also produce simple engineering programs by using Microsoft Excel. My Undergraduate thesis was on environmental – river pollution (checking COD,BOD,etc.). My highest level designation was Senior Design Engineer.

Being an engineer make me a better person. Engineering itself is a great profession. It brings jobs and homes to men. It elevates the standard of living and adds to the comfort of life. The biggest challenge so far has been the short deadlines to work within. I learn to think fast and expect the unexpected. I have to be adaptable and accept that I don’t know everything. But at the end of the day, the most important thing is to focus on the goal; a good solution for all parties involved.
