The Trane Company- La Crosse, Wisconsin

Defined the strategy for the Global Aftermarket Parts business including the development, execution, and management of a comprehensive business plan encompassing integrated business, marketing and sales initiatives designed to penetrate and grow targeted markets. Oversaw a comprehensive market and business assessment in conjunction with Bain and Company, culminating in executive endorsement by both the Residential and Commercial product groups of the plan including a multi-year financial commitment to achieve the objectives. This strategy entailed shifting the business from being a warranty provider of parts to being a full-line supplier of parts, services and supplies to the marketplace with a special focus on Trane and American Standard equipment dealers. Oversaw the selection of and additional of product lines including product rollouts

Establishment of measurements including quotas, scorecarding and best practices and internal systems to measure gross profit percentage and dollars by product line, customer type, and promotional offering.

Overall results were congruent with objectives resulting in desired profit goals and return on investment objectives.

Envisioned, developed and led the implemented of several significant systems projects providing state-of –the-art order entry, inventory management, parts identification and claims processing systems. The projects involved concept creation, scope definition, executive buy-in and funding, software procurement and/or development, project management, marketing communications, training materials and implementation plans involving 200+ distributors. These systems resulted in increased customer satisfaction, increased productivity for both our distributors and headquarters personnel as well as in-depth quality feedback. Specific projects included:
Automated Order Entry System – allowing 200+ distributors to check inventory and order parts electronically.
Electronic Parts Identification System – CATS- which allows distributors to identify parts for all commercial as well as residential equipment in less than one minute. This also included a less-featured version, CATSPaw which was available to dealers and servicers allowing on-site lookup of parts.
Automated Claims System – ACS- which allowed distributors to electronically file equipment and parts warranty claims receiving reimbursement to their accounts within three days of submission.
