1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
I am an Italian Carbonate Sedimentologist and Stratigrapher.
I received my Degree with honours in Geology from the University of Perugia (Italy) in 2003 presenting a thesis on stratigraphical and sedimentological analysis shallow water carbonate deposits. In 2007 I completed my PhD on sedimentological, palaeoecological and palaeoenvironmental analyses of Tertiary associations from shallow water carbonate successions.
I worked as Postdoctoral Researcher at the Earth Sciences Dept. (Perugia University) focusing on sedimentology, stratigraphy, add palaeoenvironmental interpretation of Tertiary and Modern shallow water carbonate deposits.
Currently I am working as Post-doc Researcher focusing on sedimentology, stratigraphy, and palaeoenvironmental interpretation of Palaeozoic to Modern shallow water carbonates.
I also worked as geological consultant for Oil Companies in sedimentological and microfacies analisys and interpretation, in planktonic foraminifer biostratigraphy (Cretaceous-Miocene interval) and on benthic foraminifer palaeoecology and biostratigraphy (Palaeozoic-Cainozoic). I have been involved in several Italian research projects. In 2005 I worked as a wellsite stratigrapher and sedimentary petrologist for Indago Petroleum in the United Arab Emirates where I carried out facies and biostratigraphical analyses on Paleozoic and Mesozoic rocks. Since 2006 I have been working as a geologist and stratigrapher for the Italian Geological Survey in the National Geological Cartography Project.
During my PhD I attended courses and international schools on sedimentology, sedimentary petrology, facies analysis and interpretation, sequence stratigraphy and micropalaeontology.
I have published papers in international reviews and I have participated in several geological national and international congresses presenting posters or talks. I have fluent spoken and written English and an elementary knowledge of French and Spanish.
I have realised that i am much more productive when the work requires short-term results and when the research is developed in order to solve practical problems. Scientific research is fascinating and interesting, but solving practical problems fits my personality and skills better. In particular, during my work experiences, i realised that stratigraphical and sedimentological analyses represent the field that enthuses me most and allows me to perform best.
