CV/Resume Details

1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

I am writing to apply for the drilling engineer. I believe that I have the skills, vision and drive to be successful in a position within oil and gas. This position allows me to extend my knowledge gained in my field experience with Schlumberger and expand the scope of my career in drilling and logging within the oil industry.

My interest in the position derives from my desire to work in the oil and gas industry. I am a mature, driven and efficient individual who constantly strives to learn new things, meet new people, have good oral and written communication skills and proactive thinking and analytical skill. I work well in a team environment or independently whenever required. My knowledge and training covers a wide aspect of chemical engineering, production procedures, drilling and engineering, geology and formation evaluation. I also possess excellent generic skills in applying mathematics, physics and chemistry.

I have been employed as a LWD/MWD engineer with Schlumberger, working on deep-water operations in the North West Shelf in Australia and the Bay of Bengal in India. My role as LWD/MWD Engineer required me to be the communication point between directional drilling operations, logging operations and drilling operations. I worked closely with geologists’, mud logging companies, rig crews and liaison with clients to ensure our job in the drilling program was successfully completed. Whilst logging with Schlumberger I gained experience in and was trained in all logging tools. I have extensive training in Health and Safety due to Schlumberger's focus on QHSE, both offshore and in the base location. My experience in India, developed my skills to work with multicultural teams and adapt to changing environments quickly. I have strong communication and leadership skills, having also attended personal development courses in communication and training of groups.

In conclusion, I believe that my hands-on experience together with my current studies and enthusiasm make me a highly suitable candidate for the post. I currently reside in South Australia, however I want to move to Brisbane to continue my career in Oil and Gas. Please find enclosed my resume for your consideration. I would welcome the opportunity to discuss my suitability for the above position at an interview.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

Working in Schlumberger enabled me to work with a diverse range of people from many nationalities and backgrounds. The team environment honed my teamwork and leadership skills. I furthered theses skills by attending personal development trainings.

During my employment with Schlumberger I attended 4 technical trainings, and with my field experience I have a sound understanding of the drilling and exploration side of the oil industry, and large international company structures and operations.

Within my two postings in Schlumberger (India and Australia) I adapted to different onshore conditions; I learned to live with a very poor section on North Mumbai and interact with the local community and transition back into Australian life. Offshore I adapted to working long hours and to show initiative, leadership and to take responsibility.

During my employment I gained a detailed understanding of Daily Drilling Reports, Mud Reports, Survey Reports, Bit Reports and BHA Reports, through my field work for BG India, Apache Northwest Pty Ltd, Santos Pty Ltd, and Stuart Petroleum, Woodside Pty Ltd and Conoco Phillips.

I have a good understanding of the requirements and importance of HSE reports as a result of Schlumberger’s comprehensive QHSE management system, performing both onshore and offshore operations to the highest safety standard.

I extended my knowledge of management and field operations by standing in for my direct manager whilst on sick leave, attending daily operational meetings, scheduling tool load outs and managing the 23 field staff under her supervision.

I worked in the operational support center for the Australian region, monitoring 7 simultaneous field operations, monitoring anti-collision risks and providing QC for field surveys and MWD/LWD operating parameters and also BHA performance and drilling conditions.
