1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
I have been in the field of HSE for approaching 10 years and have worked in a number of different sectors and industries.
I am currently working as a freelance HSE Consultant to the offshore industry and have been doing so these last few months since my previous employer Scan Geophysical ASA went into liquidation at the beginning of July 2009. I worked for Scan as a dedicated on board HSE advisor for nearly 3 years on one of their 3D seismic vessels, and dealt with all HSE related issues on board.
I am keen to re-establish myself within a seismic company as I enjoyed the work immensely and felt that my efforts were well received and assisted in meeting the sometimes demanding requirements of clients. Being a freelance consultant does have its advantages but the draw for me is working directly for a seismic company and really being able to make a difference to something and being part of the team.
I am fully qualified in HSE and have a number of professional HSE and auditing qualifications along with 10 years experience in the application of HSE in numerous workplaces be that sea or land. Regardless of which industry or sector I have worked in, the principles and methodology of HSE remain the same and I have been able to adjust and adapt by knowledge seamlessly to suit.
2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]
Health & Safety Consultant 2009 – Present RPS Energy
Immediately after leaving Scan I secured a position as a freelance HSE Consultant, and have to date worked on the prestigious BritNed contract laying HV cable between Holland and the UK.
Seismic Health & Safety Advisor 2006 - 2009 Scan Geophysical ASA
At the time that Scan Geophysical went into liquidation I was working on board the MV Scan Stigandi as the dedicated on board HSE Advisor. My time with the company I worked on the Scan Resolution and Scan Stigandi, in both instances my primary role was to set up HSE systems, procedures, methods of working and monitoring day to day HSE operations. I was the first HSE advisor to be employed within the company with a primary focus of HSE system set up to meet the challenging demands of client requirements. It was a great pleasure to work for Scan and a fantastic opportunity to apply my knowledge of HSE issues gained over a 10 year period within a broad spectrum of sectors.
As on board safety advisor I dealt with all safety related issues and coordinated all safety related activities, events and communications. Reporting to the on board Party Chief and the company VP QHSE I dealt with local on board and corporate related issues. Scan were a young company which required a tremendous amount of work identifying and setting up QHSE systems and ensuring the all operations were as safe as possible. I set up the QHSE systems on 2 out of the 3 vessels that Scan operated, one of which was the MS Scan Stigandi which I worked on as part of the rigging team while it was being converted in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
I have had experience of both 2D and 3D marine seismic acquisition on board Scan vessels and have worked with clients such as Chevron - Venezuela, PDVSA - Venezuela, Sherritt - Cuba, BPZ - Peru Petrovietnam – Cuba, CUPET- Cuba, Petroproduccion - Equador
Health & Safety Consultant 2004 - 2006 Logic SHE Solutions
On leaving Parcelforce I secured a position with Logic SHE Solutions as a self employed Health & Safety Consultant majoring in the construction/utility industry. After taking on a small portfolio for a new client I was placed on full time secondment to that client for a number of utility contracts on a multi site basis.
Area Health & Safety Advisor 2000 - 2004 Parcelforce Worldwide
I worked in this position for approaching 4 years before I left the business on VR (voluntary redundancy) in May 2004. Within this role I was responsible for providing a quality Health & Safety service for all Parcelforce depots in the London & South East area employing approximately 2500 employees. Prior to my departure I was promoted to Regional HSE Manager but decided to leave on VR due to logistical issues relating to the appointment and also to be able to fully focus on completing the NEBOSH Diploma.
