GENERAL
Job Profile:
• Loading Un-loading materials from offshore supply vessels.
• Hammering works for tubing fittings and casing erections.
• Assisting in cementing and mud jobs.
• Coordinating with crane operators by means of standard crane signals.
• Erection of columns and pipes with remote controlled mono-rail Carnes.
• Involving in well head work over and completion jobs.
Main activities and responsibilities
• Follow the Chief Rig Mechanic instructions to perform routine maintenance on mechanical equipment and on power plant.
• The Rig Mechanic shall have a good knowledge of mechanical parts of the engine and drilling equipment.
• Have a good command of both written and spoken English.
• The Rig Mechanic is delegated the necessary authority to carry out his duties listed hereunder in this description.
Operative Responsibilities:
• Perform routine maintenance controls of the mechanic equipments and devices of the engine.
• Guarantee mechanic equipments through routine/non routine maintenance and repairs.
• Apply safety procedures, including Lock-Out/Tag-out System.
Safety Responsibilities:
• Ensure that no mechanical work that requires work permit is stared until a proper investigation has been carried out and approvals have been given in writing.
• Ensure that all safety are followed.
• Promptly report all accidents, near-miss accidents and non-conformances job.
• React timely to all corrective action requests.
• Attend the safety meetings.
• Participate in safety drills onboard.
• Familiarise himself with reporting routines regarding the Preventative Maintenance Program on board. Rig works including chipping, painting.
Nature of Job:
• Dig and clean mud pits and drains
• Clean equipment, drill and camp sites
• Assemble or repair oil field equipment using hand and power tools
• Assist in slotting, welding and inserting casing screens
• Assist with well development and pumping tests
• Carry out minor maintenance and repairs, including lubrication
• Help move drilling rigs and equipment from site to site, set up in the new site and connect power cables or hoses for water and air supply
• Help obtain drilling core samples
• Mix and test drilling fluids, chemicals and grout
• Operate equipment such as pumps for air, water and mud, and equipment and tools used to correct problems in Drilled holes caused by mechanical breakdowns or by harmful natural conditions
Efficiency:
• Making scaffolding at various locations.
• Having Good knowledge of removal and Installation of pipes and spools.
• Having Good knowledge of Servicing of Various types of Valves.
• Having Good knowledge of making various types of knots like Over Hand Knot, Reef Knot, Double Reef Knot, Bow Line, Spanish bowline, 8 Knot’s, Clove Hitch, Timber hitch, and etc.
• Having Good knowledge in Fire & Safety System. Also participated fire & safety drill conducted by ONGC periodically.
• Handling chemicals safely like, gas corrosion inhibitor, oil corrosion inhibitor, methanol,
• De-emulsifier, oxygen scavenger, try-ethylene glycol, hot oil and coagulant.
• Knowledge in Safe Working load in Cranes for Lifting Materials.
• Safe Working load for slings depending upon the diameters.
• Experience in using safety slings, 4-way slings, shackles (leg & legless), long way slings.

• Carry out emergency rope splicing and wire cables to make or repair slings and tackle for emergency cases.
• Selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of load to be moved.
• Segregate the scrap metals, waste, contaminated materials.
• Maintain the cleanliness and refueling the crane.
• Apply and maintain safety in rigging
• To familiarize the safety precautions of vessel.
• To maintain prompt coordination and communication to the Master or Mate the existence of any personal medical problem or injury.
• To be thoroughly familiar with assigned duties for drills and
emergencies
• To report promptly the existence of all potentially hazardous conditions and to cause or effect the commencement of proper remedial or emergency actions to handle or correct the situation.
• To assist in loading, unloading, discharging, or receipt of any and all equipment, supplies and materials.
Follow set routines under the direction of a commanding officer.
• To carry out vessel and equipment cleaning, maintenance and housekeeping duties.
