1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
I have just successfully completed the welder’s certificate program at Naugatuck Valley Community Technical College. This is not my first course with this institution.
During the late 1990’s, as an employee of the Kanthal Corp., where I worked for eleven years as a die cutter with very tight tolerances, I also completed three semesters of the Electrical Engineering Associates Degree. When the opportunity presents itself I plan to complete it. Not finding any room for advancement I left Kanthal in the summer of 2003, and did some work with the temporary agencies in the area. I drove a forklift for the A.C.H. Foods Corp. where I oversaw the line, and was responsible for getting the product off of the line, checking paperwork and loading it onto waiting trailers for shipment. While performing this assignment for A.C.H., an opportunity for entry-level press personnel at Danbury Printing came to my attention.
Upon entering the pressroom, I quickly learned all of the systems on the press, including the setup of the Scheffer inline rotary cutter. Within one year I advanced to operator on the press. I held this position for 4 years and was laid off in February 2009.
The program I have just completed has given me an opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills I gained in my previous work and take my career in a new direction. As in the past, I was able to learn quickly and comprehend everything that I was taught. I would like to continue to acquire as much knowledge and experience in this trade as possible and take it as far as I can. I am looking forward to exploring the opportunities that your company has to offer.
