I am a qualified Shipbuilder and have been working in shipbuilding/boatbuilding industry for the last ten years. I completed a 4 year apprenticeship in shipbuilding at the South African Naval Dockyard in 2001. My primary focus is to obtain a position which will offer the potential for advancement. In fact, I have consistently proven the ability to produce positive results in all of the positions I have undertaken.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

TASKS AND DUTIES GUNBOAT SA

 Composite boat building using carbon, Kevlar, fibreglass, vacuum bagging (wet layup)
 Lofting
 Make patterns of the vessel's parts
 Select the correct materials to be used from a full range of composite materials, timber, alloy and steel
 Make the framework of the vessel
 Cut and attach planks to the framework
 Strengthen and seal the vessel
 Fit the engine, beds, deck beams and decking to the vessel
 Construct wheel and deck houses or cabins
 Repair and maintain vessels
 Use computer-aided design (CAD) software to draw a full plan of the vessel (lofting)
 Specialise in composite boat construction
 Manufacture and assemble

TASKS AND DUTIES S.A. NAVAL DOCKYARD

 Removing ships and submarine equipment repair and overhaul such items and replace items on ship or submarine in order to maintain a safe operational vessel
 Repairs by means of marking, cutting, shaping, forming, drilling, riveting, bolting, welding, threading, gluing, screwing, welding or any other specialize action which is determined
 Implementing Engineering changes to all classes of naval vessels by constructing, manufacturing or fabricating items of equipment and structures in order to modernise and maintain configuration of such vessels
 Manufacturing, constructing and fabricating items of equipment used in the support of the naval fleet and maintaining such items to support the efficient functioning of the SAN
 Scrutinizes work package for clarity and feasibility
 Ensures that correct technical specification is included in work package
 Ensures that work area is accessible and safe before commencing work
 Designs and manufactures any special equipment required for removing equipment from vessel
 Strips and surveys equipment for wear, corrosion and defects such as mechanical damage
 Tests or arranges for testing of item and acceptance of client
 Studies repair solution to determine feasibility
 Examines Engineering change documentation and technical drawing for accuracy and feasibility
 Discusses job estimate with supervisor and advises of feasibility of completing the job within the estimated time
 Manufactures and installs items of equipment such as seating for generators, pumps and auxiliaries, weapons seating, radar, electronic and electrical equipment seating, resilient mountings, galley equipment, lockers, as well as watertight doors and hatches, manholes, ladders, gratings, davits, boat handling equipment, ventilation trunking, cable trays and all other miscellaneous equipment that is attached to the ships hulls, decks, bulkheads or superstructure
 Manufactures fibreglass plugs, moulds and products for various ships fittings such as canopies, sonar domes and battery boxes
 Cuts, bends, forms and erects items in sequence and connects/joins components using correct procedures such as drilling, riveting, bolting, gluing, screwing, welding or any other specialized procedure as specified
