2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

• Provided surface engineering Sailors, Marines, Coast Guard and Foreign Military students with technical training in 68 highly diverse engineering courses concentrating on the areas of main propulsion, auxiliaries, firefighting, damage control, and hull repair.
• Minimized manpower requirements for instruction by aggressively using state of the art technology and partnership with other commands to provide the most efficient training and support to ensure Fleet readiness.
• Served as the Course Supervisor for Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (AC&R) and for Air Conditioning (AC) Microprocessor, Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Refrigeration Technician courses and demonstrated abilities in contributing to the certification of over 250 students as Technicians.
• Managed and supervised the operation and maintenance of all AC&R and Microprocessor Lab equipment valued at over $7.3 Million. Responsible for the curricula and training of more than 300 students annually.
• Managed and coordinated over 285 Environmental Protection Agency certification walk-ins and maintained the Microprocessor and Air Conditioning and Refrigeration lab valued at over $300,000.
• Supervised 17 Personnel in the preventative and corrective maintenance on ship’s Service Steam, Intermittent Steam, Portable Water Systems, all Laundry and Cafeteria equipment,
Potable Water Heaters and Waste Processing Units.
• Completed over 700 complex repairs ship wide, encompassing over 23,000 man-hours and including 50 emergent trouble calls. Expertly supervised 12 major depot level repairs, overhauled steam system components and a large capacity of 200 pounds of ships laundry equipment, saving the Navy a total of $85,000 in repairs. Delivered challenging in-rate and cross-divisional training ship wide demonstrated in his work center’s 90% advancement, 95% retention, and 100% watch station and warfare specialty qualification rates.
• Demonstrated expert technical skills in the direction of completing over 100 trouble calls, the replacement of 10 Service Steam valves, 2 laundry presses, 2 scullery machines, and 6 potable water heaters.
• Performed corrective and preventive maintenance on one 600 pound marine boiler, one main engine, three Ship Service Turbine Generators, and all associated auxiliary equipment.
• Expert in Propulsion and Oil Pollution Abatement equipment and operations.
• Facilitated a highly successful Surge deployment and post-cruise Inspection and Survey examination as Work Center Supervisor. Superior technical knowledge demonstrated in quickly identifying, isolating, and coordinating numerous repairs necessary for maintaining plant material readiness.
• Experience and knowledge proved invaluable when used in the supervision and training of junior personnel to perform quality maintenance to the ships oily water separators and oily waste transfer system critical to the ship meeting all Environmental Protection Agency and pollution abatement requirements with zero incidents.
• Personally corrected over 40 safety discrepancies and 200 Planned Maintenance System checks on Number 2 Engine Rooms damage control equipment resulting in an outstanding spot check by the Executive Officer.
• Performed all basic functions in engineering areas aboard ship, involving cleanliness, operation, maintenance, and preservation of main propulsion, auxiliary steam and diesel machinery, steam and diesel generators, various pumps, motors, and associated equipment.
• Identified types and components of naval boilers, steam turbines, reduction gears, propellers and shafting, shipboard electric systems, and internal combustion engines. Kept accurate electronic and written records.
• Performed routine maintenance procedures. Identified abnormal conditions in plant operation that may lead to an emergency and/or casualty while initiating corrective and/or emergency procedures.
• Repaired, maintained and preserved engineering and associated tools in preparation for underway operations.
• Observed safety standards associated with engineering machinery. Provided power plant and ship security watches while in port and underway. Served as a member of damage control, emergency, and rescue teams.
• Performed more than 150 maintenance required checks and over 40 routine spot-checks with excellent results.
• Assisted in the monumental task of combining the valve and outside machine shop with the boiler repair and auto-combustion control shop. The shops were merged and ready for operation in only 3 days due to efforts.
• Served as Stretcher Bearer in the timely emergency treatment and transportation of several medical casualties
