CV/Resume Details

1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

My motivation for applying for this role is drawn from the extensive commercial and technical supply chain experience gained in strategic sourcing & procurement, category management, commercial and spend analyses, contract management, negotiation, logistics planning, management and cost engineering over the past eight years.

These roles have evolved within the Oil & Gas, engineering procurement & construction EPC, fast moving consumer goods FMCG, manufacturing and aviation industries. My expertise spans across strategising category sourcing & spend analyses, supply market analyses; supplier commercial KPI's analyses for supplier relationship management, supplier rationalization, material requirements planning, manufacturing resources planning, ,warehouse logistics/distribution network planning, demand forecasting and project cost control.

I have gained substantial stakeholder leadership experience that seeks to partner, collaborate, create strategic alignment and build synergies and economies of scale with supply chain players/stakeholders; the benefits are to deliver a better leverage on capital and operational resources spend for mutual value benefits to firms and consumers. Firms in the current financial downturn may have to adopt efficient cost saving and higher value bespoke category management principles, whereby the seven steps of strategic sourcing and category positioning matrix would need to be incorporated at all level of strategic sourcing and contracting to achieve the biggest gains and savings.

In doing these, the impact and criticality of each category would be ascertained and procurement terms, spend and negotiation prioritized. The category classification may follow the below either as a; leverage category, strategic category, non-critical category or bottleneck category. The essence of revisiting the category positioning matrix is to determine and evaluate the complexity of the supply market, the competitiveness and risk of supply, the ability to switch suppliers, and the number of suppliers in the market. Gaining knowledge of the known position of various categories would enable the prioritization of competitive resources in terms of how much total spend to be allocated to categories and how does these category impact core business operations.

The aim of the above is to inject sufficient levels of competition, realign procurement spend, increase supply chain visibility and challenge the status quo to undertake appropriate level of risk and determine the value/cost tradeoffs for greater potential value increments wherever possible.

These are but a few of the gains that would generate the greatest value for companies and their clients, especially given the shrink in global trade and the declining capital market situation.

Also, continues cost and spend analysis on key-tier suppliers would become crucial in making financial, procurement and supply chain decisions between make and order, outsourcing decisions or subcontract in any organization. The major criterion for organizations is to concentrate on their core business and review which option gives the greatest competitive advantage. More so, there would be the need to exercise a lot of strategic caution in the allocation of scarce capital in an effort to maximize the value of limited resources; the transition through this phase of capital expenditure deployment in a recession is particularly essential from a strategic corporate supply chain, logistics and procurement planning point of view.

In addition, having worked on various fast moving consumer goods FMCG’s supply chains, aerospace/aircraft maintenance repair & overhaul MRO outsourcing and engineering procurement & construction EPC contracts and negotiating directly with major suppliers on best commercial value including price, quantity, quality and delivery lead-times; has enabled me to appreciate and gain valuable understanding of the dynamics and elements that pertains in the international business environment. I have an enviable tract record of working on three different continents and amongst an integrated and diversified business setting. This is a huge advantage for any organization as I can appreciate the expectations of different cultural environments.

I understand the dynamics of the supply market place, finacial implications and would make an enormous cost saving and earned-value contribution that would immensely impact the supply chain, procurement and logistics department in your organization.

As we expect a global financial upturn hopefully in 2010; there would be the need to increase pressure on supplier alignment to streamline the slow take-off while strategizing supply market position. These would require some talented supply chain management skills, contract management tactics, legal acumen and a stronger negotiation capability in order to rebuild trust, transparency and visibility along the value-chain.

I would horned in on these competences gained in industry and would bring them to bear on organizations, specifically in reengineering their supply chain and realigning procurement strategic business units (SBU) while developing tactical elements such as; Sales and Operation Planning functions (S&OP), rethinking demand forecasting and production planning mechanism, optimizing category and Product Life Cycle (PLC) management, cost-benefit analysis, applying real-time inventory visibility techniques such as; Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI), Co-managed Inventory (CMI), Just In-time (JIT), Collaboration Production Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR).Continues improvement , monitoring Contract deliverables and performance reviews would all be enhanced profit and value maximization to stakeholders.

I have gained the rigour of taking early responsibility and for ensuring accountable leadership while delivering excellently. I look forward to hearing from you.
