Jan 1997 to Feb 1999: Maintenance Fitter at Atlantis Diesel Engines SA.
Responsible for the maintenance of various machine tools used in the manufacture of components for diesel engines. These included milling machines, grinding machines, multi-spindle drilling machines, CNC lathes, boring machines and other ancillary equipment. Main duties were fault finding and any subsequent repairs that had to be carried out, such as mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and small electrical repairs.

Sept 1993 to Nov 1996: Production Manager at Steadi-Rak (Pty) Ltd SA.
Responsible for final quality of ABS plastics product from the extrusion facility. Managing five staff, from assembly of product, through to delivery. Responsible for product, over-seeing its correct manufacture and design and co-ordinating all aspects involving ordering, transport, assembly co-ordination, packaging and delivery and meeting deadline targets.

Sept 1991 to Sept 1993: Head Repair-Shop Technician, Hytec Hydraulics, SA.
As Head of Repair-shop responsible for all repairs to all hydraulic equipment and component units. Over-see four staff in repair facility where duties included; fault finding of damaged or faulty equipment; correct diagnosis to implement repair; ordering of replacement parts; management of repair-shop staff and work-load to complete repair; liaison with clients relating to faults and correction of hydraulic problems. Offshore repairs to units that failed on board oil-rigs and diamond recovery vessels at sea. Servicing of hydraulic pumps, motors and power packs as utilised on board.

Sept 1989 to Sept 1991: Hydraulic Fitter, Meridian Technologies, SA.
Installation, servicing and repair of hydraulic units as used in production facilities and ocean-going fishing vessels. Working unsupervised to complete installation and servicing of hydraulic components large and small at work-shop and on board vessel at harbour.

Oct 1979 to Jan 1989: Trade Apprentice Fitter, British Aerospace, Bolton UK.
(‘79-’83 ). Module H1. Inspection techniques and procedures using standard equipment.
Machine Shop: Setting and operating on heavy turrets and medium capstan. Setting and
working on Mollart Gun drill.
Module H3. Assembly, general use of hand tools and gauges used on the structure of missiles.
Missile Assembly: All assembly relating to building of missile. Wing-hub, guidance and fuse, control and power. Missile build, packing and all sub-assemblies through to final-assembly and packing.
(’83- ‘87) Apprenticeship completed in final-assembly facility, to continue with all assembly related to building of missiles previously worked on, i.e. Skyflash AIM throughout, with small diversions on Sidewinder and Seadart missiles.
(’87-’89) Test-shop: Pressure-test of aircraft and missile related component, from pipes and valves to under-carriage and propeller assemblies. Pressure testing by means of pneumatic and hydraulic test equipment.

TECHNICAL: Responsible for the repair, testing and assembly of all related hydraulic components, units and equipment
for use offshore (oilrigs and ocean-going vessels)and onshore. Maintenance and repair of machine tools involved in
diesel-engine production facility.

MANAGEMENT: As repair technician, supervise repair shop personnel and all functions of repair process, ie,
assessment, diagnosis and completion of repair. Ability to deal with clients, sub contractors at various levels of management,
as well as the co-ordination and motivation of personnel to ensure a tight team all deadline focused.

ENGINEERING: Competent in working as part of a team or un-supervised. Skilled and qualified in mechanical engineering, hydraulic fitting and maintenance of machine tools in large production facility.

COMMUNICATION: Excellent skills in presenting information in a basic language which relevant parties can grasp in order to ensure quick solutions by the team. A demonstrated ability, to facilitate and confirm understanding when presented with cultural or language barriers.

REPORTING: Strong skills in completing and maintaining records, reports and databases ensuring up to date and accurate information reporting and scheduling.
