Work description of a Medical Assistant/Paramedic at Emergency Responses Team Hospital Kuala Lumpur
RESPONSIBILITIES:
* I’ve been doing relief work as a Medic on the ambulance service and medical stand by for the Past Eleven years, on an as and when required basis.
* Also able to deal with problems in a logical manner, creative and able to work with all different types of people as part of a team.
My contribution is full commitment to the job at hand.
* The daily duties include the issuing of medicines for example aches and pains, common colds and many other ailments etc.
On board we are authorized to supply medicine without the prescription of a medical practitioner as we have a permit from the Dept of health.From the 2nd May 2004 will have to have the Dispensing Course.
Drugs kept onboard are Diazepam, Morphine, or Tramal, Pethidine Dormicum Largactil, etc
* We also do suturing on board and any other minor trauma related injuries when necessary. Most of the work done is also like the ALS on the Ambulances.
Working on the Ambulances
RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Patient Assessment
*Delivery of babies in all conditions and complications, Prolapsed cord management, Breech Birth, Obstructed labour management Etc
*Mountain rescue
*Helicopter rescue joined with army.
*Rescuing people trapped in accidents using the Jaws of Life.
*ECG monitoring and using the Life pack 5 (Defibrillator) and the AED also
*IV Therapy
*Use of ventilators
*Endotracheal Intubation
*Bag-valve-tube- reservoir nebulization
*Needle Thoracentesis
*Catheterization in Males
*Transporting sick and injured patients for example: stroke, diabetes, heart attack and assault victims, incubator transfers, unconsciousness and epilepsy patients etc...
*Giving CPR lectures to schools and big companies
*Training new staff in Ambulance control Room (Dispatching and Ambulance)
*Training new staff for the Basic Ambulance Course and Basic Life Support Course.
MANAGEMENT/RESPONSIBILITY
*Administration duties include working with the computer 90% of my time as most of the work is on the hard drive. Programs are Ms Word 2003/07, Ms Excel etc.
*Being of part of Disaster Team in HKL/National.Manage of the all medical equipment,staff etc.
*Committee of MSQH and MS ISO 9000 for Kuala Lumpur Hospital.
*Buying new medical stock equipment and uniforms
