Dear Sir,

I am enclosing a copy of my Curriculum Vitae to introduce myself.
I would be grateful if you could take a moment to read it and consider me for any operational assessing or training positions that you feel may benefit from my experience, preferably in an offshore position. I am currently working as an Offshore Operations Assessor / Team Leader for Sonangol P.P in Block 2, Angola.

Previously I was employed as a training instructor / assessor, teaching Kuwaiti operators and Well Service men, Gas Oil Separation plants and Gas compression and Dehydration plants. Located, at the K.0.C Training centre; Burgan and Magwa oil fields at Ahmadi in Kuwait

I was actively responsible for much of the course development, ensuring that training material met the client’s requirements. The course demanded that the students were trained and assessed to NVQ standards in Hydrocarbon Operations. To this end, I gained my A1 assessor certificate.

Prior to this, I spent two years in Saudi Arabia working as a Process Instructor for Saudi Aramco. Based at the Abqaiq process plants and training centre, I taught Saudi Apprentices Wellhead Operations, Gas Oil Separation Plant operations, and Gas Sweetening and compression plants.

I have over thirty years experience in operations, using Honeywell T.D.C.s, ABB and Yokogowa D.C.S. systems and Siemens P.L.C. logic systems; also three years experience using DeltaV systems.

I hold a current offshore survival certificate, valid until March 2014.

Duties: Assessing / Coaching operations staff on all operational tasks on the FPSO and four Production platforms in Block 2, to comply with Texaco Chevron standards. Delivering OJT where required and keeping current records of activities and progress for all operations staff. During shutdowns I also act as the Permit To Work coordinator

Duties: Training apprentices in the operation of Gas Oil Separation Plants and Gas Booster Stations (Gas compression and dehydration plants).Assessing trainees in International Vocational Qualification standards in POH2.
Directly involved in course development to ensure all training material was Site Specific and conformed to the client’s requirements. To this end we liaised with the Awarding Body (SQA) to implement a brand new award, the I.V.A. (International Vocational Award) which encompasses a competency based training scheme based on theoretical and practical training. Majority of the work is on Burgan oilfield with technical training at the Petroleum training centre in Ahmadi.

Abqaiq Eastern Provinces KSA
Position: Operations Training Instructor

Duties: Employed to train Saudi apprentices in their 2 year Basic Operating Course. This training comprised of the operation of Gas Oil Separating Plants, Desalting and Dehydration, Gas Compression and Condensate Recovery, Offshore Loading Platforms and gas condensation plants at the largest crude oil and upstream gas plants in Saudi Arabia. The normal week consisted of 40% classroom work with the remainder spent on the various plants. I also instructed the apprentices in using the Honeywell and Yokogowa D.C.S. systems.

Date: 1996 – March 2005
Position: Chemical Process Supervisor

Duties: Employed as part of the commissioning and start up team on three, multi-million pound De-inking plants. I operated these plants from a central control room using Honeywell Global User T.D.C operator stations, SOPL programming and Seimens Programmable Logic Control. My duties included the optimisation of the process plants and all of the peripheral chemical dosing plants as well as a Biological Water Treatment Plant. I was a member of the Emergency Response and Fire Team and I was authorized to issue all Permit to Work systems, incorporating electrical and Process isolations and confined space operations.

Date: 1990 - 1996
Position: Crude Oil Reactor Plant Shift Foreman

Duties: Operations of Crude Oil reactors, whereby Ethylene Cracker Residues and Heavy Cycle oils were Thermally Cracked into carbon for the manufacture of Synthetic Butyl Rubber. My duties were to set up, operate and monitor the process within the reactors, sampling for quality and controlling the resulting Carbon and Tail Gas produced. I was also responsible for all utility services such as cooling and quench water, oil delivery to the individual reactors, pre-heaters, heat exchangers, air compressors, water treatment, Tail gas calorific values and the gas - oil separation plant. I was also authorized to issue all permit to work certificates on the plant.

Date: 1984 - 1990

Position: Pumping Station / Control Room Operator

Duties: Employed as an operator along the 1200 kilometre pipeline from Abqaiq in the Eastern Province, to Yanbu in the Persian Gulf. Initially, I was employed in the operation of one of the eleven on-line pumping stations, before transferring to the control station at Yanbu. There, I was responsible for all oil movements during my shift, within the 11 million - barrel capacity tank farm using Honeywell T.D.C.s’. My duties included all aspects of stock control and movement of up to 1.85 million barrels per day of crude oil into and out of the tank farm.

Date: 1974 - 1983
Position: Refinery Operator

Duties: I started in the refinery aged sixteen as a Trainee Process operator on a thirty month Ordinary National Certificate course. During this period I was given comprehensive training in most aspects of the refinery processes as well as attending technical college on a day release basis. My training covered Chemical and Electostatic Separation, Atmospheric and Vacuum distillation, Catalytic cracking, Coking, Hydro cracking, Visbreaking, Alkylation and Solvent dewaxing. After completing my certificate course I was employed in the Distillation and Chemical and Electrostatic Separation sections of the refinery.
