• PRESENTLY: Maritime and Industrial Consultant, San Pedro, CA
Expert consultant to law and commercial offices on the Pacific Basin. Forensic investigations, reporting and testimony in marine and power projects. Also serve as a contract senior repair superintendent for ship managers for yard repairs and overhauls.

• Alaska Ship & Drydock, Ketchikan, AK
General Manager - Managed 120 employees and was responsible for all operations, including repair and construction of ferries, tugs, barges and other vessels. In charge of profit/loss, marketing and sales. General Manager for a $40 Million/year ship repair and construction yard. Brought in over $15 Million in new construction commitments.

• Goltens California (A Division of Goltens Worldwide)
General Manager – USA West Coast and Mexico. Responsible for sales, customer service and support and profit/– loss for the division. Grew sales by 70%. Also maintained an efficient, safety-minded workforce of welders, machinists and mechanics for diesel engine and turbocharger repairs. Managed trading and warehouses.

• Marine and Industrial Consultant
Expert Consultant to law and commercial offices. Forensic investigations, reporting and testimony in marine and power projects.

• U.S. Shipping Partners LP
Superintending Engineer - Managed 2 Diesel Electric Integrated Tug/Barge product tankers and 1 Steam Powered Chemical Tanker using ABS SafeNet as management and tracking system. Contracted and managed vendors, suppliers and services for voyage repairs in US Ports. Wrote specifications, provided budget estimates and handled all bid questions, ship visits and award documents for the $8 Million dry-dock of 2 vessels in Chile.
Frequently assumed the duties of Manager of Engineering.

• US Government
Principal Port Engineer for MSC and MARAD vessels, including Budgets, Overhaul and maintenance P&L management. Oversaw and was responsible for lifecycle management of the diesel-powered underway replenishment (UNREP) tanker USNS Pecos, including ABS class compliance and applying DOD contracting requirements, FAR purchasing requirements and Military Specs. Tracked maintenance requirements repairs with vessels officers and using computer-based condition monitoring tracking and diagnostic systems, wrote overhaul specifications and provided work scope and cost estimates. Managed several voyage repairs and 3 month $5 Million overhaul period at Cascade General.

• Samson Rope Technologies
Manager of Marine Programs – Managed 5 direct reports in the research department. Reported to VP Marketing and Sales and VP Research and Development. Direct interface with customers at Chevron, OMI, Horizon Lines, Matson, APL, OSG, Crowley, Foss, Tidewater, and Military entities such as USCG, MSC, MARAD to assure proper usage and spec compliance of products. Effected type certifications with ABS, DNV and Lloyd’s for manufacturing of Ultra-High Strength Cordage. Supervised research, development, materials testing and certification of the marine product line. Worked closely with suppliers and purchasing. Performed duties of VP Offshore division during his absence.

• Cincinnati Milacron, Walnut Creek, CA: 1996-1999
Territory Account Manager - Regional Sales Manager for Hydraulic and All-Electric Injection molding machines, hot runner systems, heaters, dryers, turn-key material handling systems and arranged, as necessary, customer calls by parts and service departments. Sales area CA, NV maintained existing customer base and built new sales by 20%.

• Bay Ship Management
Vessel Manager - OPDS Vessel Chesapeake and Shoshone - The initial $6 Million commissioning overhaul for Chesapeake was at Service Engineering in San Francisco. Worked closely with DOD teams such as Navy Seals, Marine Corps, etc. to assure all training materials would conform to actual operation of the vessel. I wrote the shipyard pre-bid specification and all applicable bid materials for presentation to MARAD. On award of an $8 Million contract to Marcom in Vancouver, WA, I managed a three person team, subcontractors and oversaw all work in accordance with MARAD, ABS and DOD norms.

• Chevron Corporation
Supervisor, Oronite Global Sales Planning and Support - Responsible for all sales and marketing materials for international support of the Oronite Marine Lubricants product line.
Supervised 11 employees to effectively manage Global Marketing, including personnel in foreign offices in France, England, Japan and India. Support staff responsible for uniform presentation of products, services and capabilities. President of Quality Council, winner of Oronite Super Star award for implementing ISO 9001 Total Quality Management Program. Authored and gave presentations for training and sales.

Product Manager - Marine Lubricants, Oronite Marketing – developed proprietary lubricant package formulations for most major marine lube oil marketers, e.g., Exxon-Mobil, Chevron, Total, ELF, Shell and others.

• ARCO Pipeline Company, Long Beach, CA
Managing Engineer - Western U.S. - Supervised 21 people in the Southwest Region. Responsibilities included assuring quality delivery of crude oil and products throughout a multi-state pipeline system from gathering lines in Elk Hills, crude oil pipelines from Santa Barbara Channel, to many product lines in greater Southern California and a Trans-pipeline from Long Beach to Texas. Responsible for compliance with all State, Federal and Regional Regulations including DOT Pipeline regulations and hydro tests (FERC), NFPA Firefighting equipment, environmental compliance for 2 tank farms and marine terminals.

Responsible for 8” to 42” diameter pipeline system operation, maintenance and improvements. Designed and constructed manifold changes, pig launchers/receivers, pumps and driver upgrades and control room improvements. Worked with Land Department to re-route pipelines as necessary.

• Woodward-Clyde Consultants, San Francisco, CA
Senior Engineering Consultant – Energy, Power & Utility Section -Surveyed and arranged purchase of a Dedicated Vessel for the Contingency Cleanup organization Clean Seas, Santa Barbara Channel. Conducted on-site survey and reported back to DOE on several storage, terminal and pipeline options for the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. Responsible for mechanical and marine engineering portions of the following energy-related projects:

Product and crude oil storage tank construction and maintenance
Site selection and design coordinator for a 3 berth marine terminal, Northern California
Environmental Impact Statement input, including energy balance calculations for WPPS, Kerr-McGee, PG&E and other utility companies
Liaison officer and spokesperson for ETSI Coal Slurry Pipeline public hearings
Houston LNG Storage combustion plume modeling
Offshore Platforms – engineering design review and environmental effects: Santa Barbara Channel: Exxon (Hondo Field), Chevron (Santa Clara Unit), Phillips66 (Holly and Hillhouse)
Oil Spill Modeling and Contingency Plans for ARCO, Clean Seas, LNG Terminals

• ETA Engineers, Oak Brook, IL
Consulting Engineer - In charge of limnological surveys on Lake Michigan using towed arrays and in-situ current/temperature measuring equipment, including Thermal plume modeling and monitoring at Donald C. Cook nuclear plant. Performed Classified work, including plutonium accountability, at Argonne National Laboratories.

Designed, purchased equipment, commissioned and managed a full ASTM standard laboratory at University of Illinois (CC) for analysis of used oils.

Instructor - Top-Rated Instructor for college courses in Diesels, Boilers, Hydraulics/pneumatics, Electricity, Naval Architecture and Drafting at Clatsop College and California Maritime Academy.
