* Responsible for all operational aspects of the execution of an onshore exploration programme onshore Tunisia and planning of a 3 well offshore development in the shallow waters of S Tunisia.


Operations Manager
Dubai, UAE Jan’02 – to Dec’03

* Responsible for all operational aspects of the development of 2 offshore gas fields in the Arabian Gulf and drilling of exploration wells in Oman. The gasfield development requires the management of all aspects of drilling and completing 20,000’ development wells with 3000’ horizontal laterals.


Operations Manager
Yangon, Myanmar Feb'99 – April’00

* Responsible for building the Operations team to Operate a $650mm offshore gas development in the Andaman Sea, integrating with the Project team, and subsequent safe operating of the field (Yetagun - 3.2 TCF reserves). Department staffing levels were ca. 230 consisting of Petroleum Engineering, Training, Production, IT, Maintenance and Technical Services groups. The project was completed on budget and commenced production ahead of contractual date.

General Manager
Albania (London/Tirana) July' 95-Jan' 99

* Responsible for managing exploration and enhanced recovery projects. Exploration consisted of seismic acquisition in a difficult mountainous area of Albania, and the enhanced recovery project involved a heavy oilfield with over 2 Billion barrels of oil in place which had only recovered 4% of oil in place in 50 years.

* Initially the role was based in London, followed by one year in Tirana at the time when farming out of part of Premier's interests to Preussag Energie and International Finance Corporation (IFC - part of World Bank) was successfully completed. During this period successfully negotiated a PSC for a new exploration block, and completed testing of thermal and latest heavy oil techniques in the Patos Marinza Field, to prove the project economic.


General Manager Algeria
Algiers/Hassi Messaoud, Algeria July' 93 -July' 95

* Responsible for putting in place the infrastructure to conduct an Exploration campaign in the Ghadames basin of the Sahara Desert.

* Offices were established in Algiers, personnel recruited, and as well as performing the varied roles as General Manager (Head Office/Government/Partner liason, budget control etc.), also designed and put in place all contracts for equipment and services to drill a 4000m well in a remote desert region.

* Established Operations base in Hassi Messaoud for implementating the drilling. Despite the added complexity of the difficult political situation during this time, the well was drilled under budget and was the cheapest deep exploration well drilled by any company before this time. The well was successful and was tested as a gas/ condensate discovery.


General Manager
Sana'a, Yemen 1991-1993

* Managed a 100% SUN Operated exploration venture with a commitment of 1500km of seismic and drilling of 5 wells in a 3 year period.

* Managed a budget in excess of $25MM per year and established from scratch of a support infrastructure for this operation including administration, finance, drilling operations, seismic operations and logistics.

* Responsible for all communication and liaison with local government and senior management at head office.

* Laterally performed the role of Operations Manager/Drilling Manager in addition to General Manager's duties.

* Ensured project kept on schedule and within budget by proper long term planning to ensure civil engineering targets were accomplished in line with drilling progress.

SUN OIL BRITAIN 1984 - 1990

Manager of Petroleum Engineering
Aberdeen, Scotland

* Established and managed Petroleum Engineering Department which involved all worldwide drilling activities, well testing, production engineering, and management of Sun's operated North Sea reserves.

* Coordinated the group's input into all company plans and integration with other manager's activities in order to achieve the company goals and maximise technical efficiency and financial profitability. This included streamlining and rationalising the organisation to improve overall performance of the company.

* Responsible for optimising field production and overall field recoveries from all UK SUN operated fields including Balmoral, Glamis, Blair and Stirling. Balmoral produced at plateau of 35,000 BOPD during this period, above all previous expectations.

* Proposed and got approval of horizontal well concept for Stirling appraisal. This was successfully carried out in 1992.

* Developed and submitted ANNEX 'B' proposal to Den for Stirling Field and achieved approval in just over 1 month. Also made submissions to Den for high pressure/temperature wells, which were also approved quickly and set the high technical standard of presentation for these operations.

* Presented various papers to SPE and at OTC Houston.

* Managed SOBL R & D projects.

Manager of Joint Ventures and Onshore Operations

* Managed and coordinated SUN's onshore drilling activities, including drilling of well at Odiham in an extremely environmentally sensitive area.

* Responsible for all of Sun Oil Britain's non operated production and development interests, mainly in the Southern Gas Basin (Thames, Hewett, Leman, Pickerill Fields) and in Block 16/12 of Northern North Sea.

* Proposed reduction of 1 year in schedule for Thames additional compression. Got group approval saving over 5MM.

* Involved in instigating N. and S. Birch extended well tests in Block 16/12.

Senior Production Engineer

* Managed group responsible for the day to day running of the Balmoral Field.

* Involved in the preparation of the entire offshore annual budget, production of all well servicing/logging programmes and supervision of their implementation, monitoring well performance, recommending stimulation/scale inhibition etc, as and when required.

* Monitored the hardware performance and optimising settings, vital to the smooth running of the operation.

* Responsible for the tendering and selection of contractors to provide all well servicing and stimulation services.

* Deputised for the Production Manager and performed duties associated with the role of Company Emergency Coordinator in case of a major offshore incident.

* Handled all contacts with the U.K. Department of Energy for sub-sea and downhole matters.
Drilling/Completion Engineer

* Responsible for all aspects of planning and implementing the 19 Balmoral sub-sea gravel packed well completions.

* Responsible for planning and 24 hour supervision of development well drilling as Drilling Engineer.


Operations Engineer
Aberdeen, Scotland

* Responsible for the planning and supervision of high pressure (15,000 psi) exploration well drilling and testing in the Central North Sea.


Special Project Engineer
Muscat, Oman

* Handled implementation of a variety of new techniques, designed to solve drilling and production problems or improve the cost effectiveness of various operations, e.g. foam drilling and cementing, tubing conveyed perforating, megadrilling, foam coring.

* Monitored all technical and statistical achievements and presented same to senior management.
