Duties
I am responsible for normal plant maintenance, standby duties and modifications on all electrical equipment. I am also responsible for new Electrical installations, faultfinding, switching and isolation of breakers 380V up to 6.6KV, daily inspections, maintenance and inspection on flame proof equipment.

Sasol Polymers (January2002-December 2002)
Maintenance Process Controller (Permanent)

Duties
Electrical maintenance on all equipment, Fault finding and repair on Electrical equipment, Programming installation and fault finding on AC and DC Variable speed Drives(SEW,Telemagnique,Danfoss,Siemens) Operation of all Machines at High Speed Pack line, Morning inspections. I am also responsible for new Electrical installations, faultfinding, switching and isolation of breakers 380V up to 6.6KV, daily inspections, maintenance and inspection on flame proof equipment.

Normal plant maintenance, Standby duties, Modifications on all Electrical equipment, switching of Breakers 380V and 6.6KV, Morning inspections, Programming installation and fault finding on AC and DC Drives (Telemacaniqe, Danfoss, WEG, Allen Bradley, Mvitraq SEW, Siemens), Siemens Simecode programming. I also did Government inspection on flameproof equipment and faultfinding on Siemens PLC S5.

Since 2004 September I was put on Project Turbo for the polythene group to assist in the commissioning, QA/QC and startup of all new installations. This was part of an up grading on a standing plant. Part of this was Commissioning of 4MW Allen Bradley Drive.
After the completion of the startup off this project I was moved to the Electrical Commissioning team with the building of the new Poly3 plant at Sasol Polymers Sasolburg. I was involved in the FAT, QA/QC, commissioning and start up of this plant. This included all new technology
ABB SCADA, Siemens Simecodes, Siemens Variable speed Drives, MCC Interphasing with SCADA.

Systems Controller

My responsibilities are to look after all the Control systems in our department which include Siemens S7 PLC, SiemensS5 PLC, DeltaV (DCS) and Siemens WINCC. I am doing the maintenance and faultfinding on the above systems as well as configuration and program changes. I am also responsible for modifications and all drawing updates that need to be done with new installations and modifications and also all software changes. I also took part in HAZOP studies and risk assessment for new installation and modifications. Doing network IP/TCP and Profibus.
I am also responsible for all the backups and history collection on the PLC and DCS control systems and setting up of new printer networks on the systems. I am also tracking the conditions on the DCS to ensure best online time.

I am in the position Electrical and Control system commissioning Supervisor for the client Katanga Mining in the Congo. My responsibility is to supervise the Sub contractor installation and commissioning team, assist with commissioning for the client Katanga Mining in DRC. This includes the electrical side of the project and the installation of a new PCS7 system to automate the plant. I am responsible to ensure commissioning dates are met and that the installations are up to standard. I am also responsible to update the revised drawings where changes have been made. I am also responsible for the FAT test in South Africa on all new equipment. I am also standing in as Electrical Superintendent when he is on R&R and take over his responsibilities. I am also responsible for signing off the QA/QC packets for the client after inspection and standards have been met. I am controlling the contractor’s overtime work on site and planning all shutdowns in the electrical and control system discipline. I am also in lead of all electrical on a new Roaster plant. I am leading a team for all installation from the 6.6Kv to 550V. I am also involved in supervising a maintenance team that looks after the maintenance of the new equipment that has been handed over to production. I am controlling the commissioning spares and set up new spare list for future maintenance activities.

I am a DCS Specialist for on a Offshore FPSO. I am working for a worldwide oil company SBM. Major strength includes expertise in Design (I/0 Selection, Controller Configuration, Controller Load Sharing, System Integration Layout), Engineering (Developing Logics for Emergency Shutdown Systems, Process Control Systems(Top Side/Subsea), Process Shutdown Systems, Fire and Gas Systems , Utility Systems based on Cause and Effect Matrix Chart, P&ID and Functional Description/Control Narratives) Commissioning ( System Integration, Controller Tuning, Communication Establishment (Profibus ,Modbus, TCP/IP) , Operation and Maintenance Activities (Trouble Shooting, Alarm and Event Management, Plant Optimization, Providing solutions During Process Upsets for Optimized Process Control). I am assisting Maintenance with fault finding on various electrical problems up to 6.6Kv. Maintain online time for all packages which include 2 X Tornado Turbines (Power Generation) and 1 X Typhoon turbine. Good Knowledge in Various Processes, Control and Field Instruments Involved in an Onshore and Offshore Oil and Gas Facility.
