I am a Social Researcher, Monitoring and Evaluation and Public Participation Specialist. I have undertaken resettlement projects both in the Republic of South Africa and Swaziland mainly in the Maguga Dam, Driekoppies Dam, LUSIP Dam, Mafube Colliery Project and compilation of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment for the construction of Siphofaneni Bridge and upgrade of the St Phillips road. Detailed design and supervision for the of the Siphofaneni Bridge and upgrading of the Siphofaneni St Phillips Road in two components, (i) The Social Impact Assessment forming part of the EIA an assessment of the need for resettlement and compensation, (ii) The Public Participation Process
Duties and Responsibilities.
1. Undertake a socio-economic survey of households that may be affected by the project, where the socio-economic survey entailed, structured interviews with members of a sample of up to 300 households, where the interviews were guided by a re-designed questionnaire, recording, by means of GPS, of the locations of the houses or structures owned by households and agricultural fields cultivated by the households.
2. Compile an issues-and-responses register recording: The various issues regarding the project that were raised during public participation meetings, during individual consultation or in correspondence from stakeholders.
3. Arrange and facilitate meetings with communities, local chiefs, Tinkhundla and government officials as part of the Public Participation Process. The aim of these meetings was to inform stakeholders and the public of the proposed project and EIA process.
4. Arrange and facilitate up to 30 Focus Group Discussions, where a FDG is a semi-structured discussion involving up to 15 persons representing a specific social grouping.
5. Assist with compiling sections of the Social Impact Assessment report, or supply information required for compilation of the report.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. To provide appropriate opportunities and forums to enable key stakeholders to raise issues, concerns and queries regarding the proposed project and the EIA process;
2. To facilitate information dissemination using the appropriate means in order to keep all stakeholders informed about the progress of the project and to give feedback and responses regarding questions and concerns (e.g. the scoping process could give recommendations on how mechanisms for information dissemination could be established during the EIA that might continue to provide feedback during the life of the project);
3. To draw on local knowledge and skills to improve and enhance the EIA process and investigations/reports;
4. To establish relationships and channels of communications to facilitate future stakeholder liaison when the projects undergo both their respective EIAs and during implementation/construction, throughout the life of the proposed operation.

Duties and Responsibilities
1. Preparation of a resettlement policy framework as well as resettlement Action plan, Resettlement CMP, compensation rates and support measures
2. Management of the resettlement staff, construction companies (13), administration of accounts and payments, preparation of weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual reports, coordination of consultants, field workers and other equipment required for field work and coordination of activities with SWADE Project Manager.
3. Facilitation of the Resettlement CMP process contribution to the formulation of the approach, implementation of surveys (socio-economic, asset survey and focus group discussions), coordination of data verification and processing.
4. Community participation - Interaction and participation with community and resettlement communities.
5. Training Facilitation of training assessment and identification of training programs.

Implementation Phase coordinate sigh-off activities, coordinate and manage architects, engineers and building contractors and other implementation agents to ensure schedule is adhered to, coordinate the relocation of graves by communities and facilitate logistical arrangements for the relocation and their belongings.

Research and documentation for Maguga and Driekoppies Dams Emergency Preparedness Plan / GIS Maps to cover the Mananga to Komatiport Stretch (KOBWA)
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Development of a Generic Local Warning and Evacuation Emergency Disaster Plan for the Maguga and Driekoppies Dams in South Africa.
2. Study the South African National Disaster Management Act and Mpumalanga Provincial and Nkomazi Municipal Disaster Frameworks and tailor the local warning and evacuation plan so that it fits into the requirement of this study. Meetings with stakeholders for the purpose of compiling this report.
3. Compile a GIS map of the inundation areas and possible affected populations and infrastructure property that is likely to be damaged in case of dam failure or flood incident. The populations will be in the form of Municipalities instead of individual homesteads.
4. Assist KOBWA and the Nkomazi Municipal Disaster Office to develop a detailed local warning and evacuation plan for the Maguga and Driekoppies Dams in South Africa.
