In past 3+ years with GE I have gained expertise in Field issues, Rotor design & optimization, Assembly/Disassembly processes and have filed a patent for an innovative process for the same.

Established unit-rotor model for it’s fidelity with UG & high accuracy and find out HCF limit, Gravity-Sag & structural crush margin. Performed Moment/shear force mapping on Ansys FEA model from Nastran beam model, which was enabled successful closure- Root Cause Analysis

3.Turbine-Rotor Disassembly Analysis: Being a part of Design Engineering team, supported shop activity by performing 2D thermo-mechanical FEA analysis. First of its kind successful disassembly of gas turbine–rotor enabling Customer shipment delivery date ~3 month ahead of schedule without any damage to surface coating- Shop Support

4.Rotor wheel cracking: Worked at Singapore service shop and performed detailed investigation of wheel cracking, came up with the intermediate gas-turbine teardown technique instantly, which enabled the successful disassembly of the gas-turbine without damaging the cracked rotor and helped the materials team to perform material evaluation without any issues. Took the ownership & led the analysis team and correlated field measurements with proficient elasto-plastic 3D analysis, going further contributed to successfully closure of wheel cracking issue and provided corrective action- Root Cause Analysis

5.Quick start Gas-Turbine: Worked with heat-transfer & structural team to come-up with realistic HTC’s & Bulk temperature under aggressive time line. 1.Global Management Award: Deliver a successful plan and process to disassemble the instrumented gas turbine, where instrumented wires & tube at the center of rotor resulted in a tough decision to disassembled this rotor. The team immediately set out to invent a process to address the unique challenge on high interference between the wheel & tube at the center of rotor that could not be removed for heating at center part of rotor. “Dimmed the lights” with 2D heat transfer & structural analysis to evaluate the myriad of choices. The engineering judgment to make decision that ultimately achieved the goal of rotor disassembly.

2.Engineering Excellence Award: Successfully completed shop support at Singapore and summarized crack mapping pattern of turbine wheel & also implemented quick solution of intermediate disassembly process. Evaluated the root cause of wheel cracking by performing 3D elastic-plastic analysis.

3.Project of the Month & Quarter Award: Innovative tooling design by leveraging expertise from cross functional teams & considered critical parameters & process, so that we can re-use the component without damaging the material.
