Nov ‘07 – Oct ‘10 SLP, Lowestoft, Suffolk

Position : Instrumentation & Controls Engineer

Duties : This involved the design and development of the instrumentation and controls for the BP Valhall offshore platform. Responsible for developing functional design specifications, software Sequential Control Diagrams, SPI Intools data control in accordance with BP Norsok standards. My involvement was form the design, development, and customer acceptance testing through to commissioning, as well as all associated documentation.


June ‘06 – Nov ‘07 EP Production Solutions, Viking Road, Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
Position : Controls Engineer

Duties : This involved the development of a subsea control systems using Intouch and Citect SCADA platforms and 90-70 GE-FANUC PLC’s, as well as 90-30 PLC’s for various subsea well developments. The subsea control system used the method of “power on comms” for control, utilising the Echolon and Lonworks system. My involvement was form the design, development, and customer acceptance testing through to commissioning, as well as all associated documentation.


April ‘04 – June ‘06 Cameron Controls, Badentoy Road, Portlethen, Aberdeen
Position : Senior IWOCS Engineer

Duties : This involves the development and project management of IWOCS systems. Provided systems engineering services with respect to IWOCS topsides and subsea controls for the project scope of supply. Responsible for developing functional design specifications, electro-hydraulic control system design, sizing calculations to check compliance with client design specifications. Preparation of various engineering procedures, interfaces and drawings. Carry out engineering investigations, and trouble shooting offshore operational problems.IWOCS engineer on recent Cameron projects AKPO, ONGC G1 and BP Rhum.
Support engineering test programs and shop floor build programs (FIT/SIT) through hands-on-shop floor involvement.

Jan ‘03 – April ‘04 AMEC Upstream Oil & Gas, P.O. Box 4, Lowestoft, Suffolk
Position : Senior Control & Instrumentation Engineer

Duties : This involves the development of construction work packs for use on offshore facilities.I was also the focal point for the DCS, ESD and Fire & Gas systems for the Sean, Inde and Leman fields. This involves the clarification of the control systems, emergency shutdown software and hardware for individual projects, then writing a detailed engineering specification for the required system change or upgrade. I was also responsible for the co-ordination of the ESD, DCS and Fire & Gas vendors for offshore visits to the platforms.

March ‘02 – Dec ‘02 Prophet Control Systems Ltd,

Position : Contract PLC Analyst & Project Manager

Duties : This involved the development of PLC and SCADA software for various projects using controllogix software.
I undertook the role of the project manager for several projects. This involved the day to day running of the project, dealing with the client, and understanding their concerns and meeting budgets for the projects.
Responsible for the delivery of the project, to time, cost and quality to maximise margins from projects and maintain customer relationships at applicable day to day level on projects. Integrating and motivating the project team from Engineering to Operations and reporting on project performance to delivery (milestone on time, variance to budget, quality, customer satisfaction).

June ‘01 to March 2002 Vosper Thornycroft Controls Ltd, Bessemer Way,
Great Yarmouth, Norfolk

Position : Project Engineer

Duties : This involved the development of a subsea control systems using Intouch SCADA platforms and 90-70 GE-FANUC PLC’s, as well as 90-30 PLC’s for the Hanney North Sea Development. The subsea control system used the method of “power on comms” for control, utilising the Echolon and Lonworks system. My involvement was form the design, development, and customer acceptance testing through to commissioning, as well as all associated documentation.

July 1999 – May 2001 CIMAC, The Manorway, Stanford-le-Hope, Essex

Position : Project Software Engineer

Duties : This involved the development of control systems for various clients that included, SmithKline Beecham, Procter & Gamble, Tate & Lyle, Jaguar Cars, Ford Motor Company. The software packages used included Allen Bradley Controllogix, PLC5, SLC500, RS Linx, and RS View, others included Modsoft, ORSI, Telemechanique PLC’s. My involvement in these projects was from the design stage through to customer acceptance testing and on site commissioning. This also involved functional specifications as well as software description documentation, and testing documentation. On site I was responsible for supervising the commissioning and liasing with the client on a daily basis.

Sept’ 97 – July 1999 Brisco Engineering Ltd, Riverside Road, Great Yarmouth,
Norfolk

Position : Project Engineer

Duties : This involved the development of several subsea control systems using Intouch SCADA platforms and 90-70 GE-FANUC PLC’s, as well as 90-30 PLC’s for the Ross North Sea Development. The subsea control system used the method of “power on comms” for control, utilising the Echolon and Lonworks system. My involvement was form the design, development, and customer acceptance testing through to commissioning and First Oil, as well as all associated documentation. Other systems involved using an AFE SCADA platform and Modicon Quantum PLC’s.

March - Aug’ 1997 Silvertech Ltd, North Heath Lane, Horsham, West Sussex

Position : Project Software Team Leader

Duties : This involved the leading of a software group to develop a chemical plant alarm system monitoring the whole plant. The system utilised Modicon Quantum Hot Standby PLC’s with a NT windows platform running, GE Fanuc Cimplicity Software. My involvement was from the conceptual design through to customer acceptance testing, which involved functional specifications as well as software description documentation, and testing documentation.

April ‘96 - March ‘97 Prophet Control Systems Ltd, The Manorway,
Stanford-le-Hope, Essex

Position : Contract PLC Analyst

Duties : Recently I have been the resident controls engineer at Ford’s Dagenham site, modifying and installing various EDDI programmes on different systems.
Currently I have just developed the design of an Allen-Bradley system utilising PLC5 & SLC500 processors for the PVW175 bodysides lines, as well as commissioning the lines on site.
Previously, I had commissioned a Controlview and RSview SCADA system for a utilities company to monitor and control the plant operation.

Position : Contract PLC Development & Commissioning Engineer

Duties : This involved the development of control systems for various automotive production lines in the USA for Ford, Chrysler, and General Motors. The work involved using Allen-Bradley software, ABB Robotics, Kawasaki Robotics, Perceptron Vision Systems as well as other software. I was involved in the installation of various glass decking and chassis machines at various plants in America for PICO.
Once developed the systems were commissioned on site for the various customers in which I played an active part.
