Good day,
I am a new DP operator and looking for full time employment. I am willing to work over the Christmas period and need be work for free during the first 30 days that I require for my next DP course for JDPO. I will attain my Chief Mate Unlimited by January, 2011.
I am currently a Captain on a 600 and 400 ton tugs in the Hudson Bay area, as well as a chief mate on ocean supply vessels for barge towing of 250- 400 in length with International and Arctic experience.
I retired in 2005 after 20+ yrs from the Canadian Navy attaining the rank of Petty Officer Second Class in the Bosun trade. My areas of expertise are mainly; Vessel management, Anchor and cable work, berthing / unberthing, various deck evolutions such as; Towing, Fuelling, cargo transfer, FRC operations and security.
I was Mate on 730 bulk carriers on the Great Lakes for 3 yrs dealing with different varying ballasting operations; winches, cranes, unloading booms and many different types of cargoes.
I also have experience on mega yachts out of Florida as engineer and mate.
I have also a Travel and Tourism diploma with credits in business management from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax.
I type 45 words a minute and have taken many courses in varying areas including; computer training, personnel management, hospitality and basic accounting to mention a few.

June, 2009 - Ongoing Captain 160 river tug / Captain 120 supply tug in the Hudson Bay area. Also Chief Mate on ocean tugs with International trips with barge units of over 400 in multi tow operations.
May 2007 - June 09 Mate / OOW on 730 Bulk carriers with Upper Lakes Shipping; Experienced with wire mooring winches for canalling, berthing/unberthing, warping and anchor work. Trained in computer aided ballasting and cargo load/unloading, knowledgeable in US Border Patrol and International Customs. Ships safety officer and; experienced as 300 ton unloading boom operator and 15 ton gantry crane operator; Certified wheelsman, testimonial available upon request.
2007 Ongoing - (Seasonal) - Murphys on the water tour boat Captain. I was mainly the Harbour Hopper operator but also was trained as a back up Captain for the tour boats Haligonian and Harbour Queen.
2007 Sept-Nov - M/Y The Highlander out of Fort Lauderdale. I was the Unlicensed Engineer and Refit manager at Fort Lauderdale boat yards.

Trained in navigation; firefighting/fire team leader, demolitions, ships damage control and search and rescue.
