3. Design minor modifications (with MOC approval) to equipment to cope with function requirements or to improve running efficiency.

4. Coordinate with third party jobs for out of shop fabrications and modifications
(E.g. Seal fabrication for hydraulic jacks when OEM parts are not available).
5. Solve unexpected and unusual technical problems.
(E.g. coupling failures, sudden clutch disengagement and failure)
6. Order parts from original parts drawings for major maintenance projects
7. Receive parts and check for compliance with company and API standards.
(E.g. Groove depth and curvature of sheaves used in crown and travelling blocks)
8. Manage and evaluate workshop resident team (consisting of two foremen, six technicians and eight labourers). During major maintenance projects team increases to twenty plus (including rig crew helping in the project).
9. Order and evaluate workshop resources (special tools, hydraulic presses, Induction heaters, etc.) to achieve most economical solutions.
10. Train new recruits to the workshop or maintenance team (including orientation for maintenance and safety procedures used by the company)
11. Perform all detailed documentation (Individual job daily progress report, NDT reports, parts survey report, job completion report)

1. Ensure that all maintenance work is performed safely.
2. Meet with the rig mechanic regarding maintenance and planning ahead to asses the risk of delay through equipment breakdown.
3. Perform all preventative maintenance duties stated by the company procedures.
4. Perform periodic maintenance and basic trouble shooting for diesel engines.
5. Complete Daily Operations Report, PM Job Cards and Daily Handover Log accurately and with useful information.
6. Complete a concise hand-over log, (End of Trip Report) for relief at crew change
7. Carry out pipe work and equipment installation.
8. Carry out mechanical isolations of equipment to be worked on.
