Major responsibilities have includes materials issues, metallurgical test and evaluation, materials failure investigation and analysis, fatigue, stress, fracture mechanism, corrosion analysis and protection, heat treatment and welding knowledge, ability to provide support to other engineering discipline. Good team work, self motivated, able to work under no supervision, keen to learn, take responsibility, flexible and excellent interpersonal skills. Fluent in English, Mandarin, Cantonese, Malay and basic Korean language. 2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

Metallurgist – Failure Analyst Feb 10 to Present

Perform failure analysis from as received failed component till issues complete metallurgical failure analysis report under no supervision within the agreed deadline. Provide metallurgical consultation, suggestion/ recommendation, corrective action to prevent further failure especially in term of designing, materials selection and daily maintenances. My job scopes involved following:
• Conduct failure investigation/ analysis on failed components from all industries (Oil & Gas, petrochemical, food, semi-con, pharmaceutical, aerospace, plastic, etc).
• Manage customer expectations with technical expertise and advise customers as appropriate
• Develop Lab Technicians by providing on the job training and mentoring for future roles
• Experience in steel metallurgy and micro structural characterization techniques with sound understanding of physical metallurgy.
• Hand-on experiences on knowledge for corrosion and international testing standards (NACE, ASTM, ASM, BS EN, SAE, API).
• Substantial proven technical leadership in physical and mechanical metallurgy, metallography, corrosion and behaviour of different types of steels in aggressive environments.
• Experience in ISO 17025, SINGLAS and NATA accredited laboratory environment.

Trainee Metallurgist Oct 07 to July 09

Been assigned by Doosan UK joined QA/QC Department at KOREA to assist a Energy (EDP) Project at Brazil in materials issues, review welding procedure, review technical quality specification, and failure analysis (fabrication, welding, and heat treatment).
• In-charge of non-conformance reports database. Liaise with client QC department for the agreement of the corrective action. Witnesses the corrective processes on behalf of client and as well as closed out NCR.
• Assessment of incoming materials Certificates of Conformity to ensure compliance to specification.
• Evaluation of out of specification conditions, decide and implement appropriate remedial action.
• Approve heat treatment processes.
• Create welding traceability record database for 4 unit boiler pressure part.
• Review technical quality specification for production use.
• Review welding process schedule.
• Witnesses all mechanical testing performs.
• Meeting with supplier’s QC team in preparing rolling and forming procedure.
• Auditing, monitoring and witnessing welding processes, rolling, forming and bending processes. Ensure suppliers and sub-contractors followed approved technical procedures.
• Review NDT reports and repaired investigation.
• Responsible for carrying out radiation safety auditing.

Trainee Metallurgist Oct 07 to July 09

I joined graduate scheme after completed Master Degree. I planned my training programmes where relocated to relate department to get better understanding role of metallurgist/ materials engineer in energy industries. Also how metallurgist play an impact in industries and commercial. My experiences involved following:
• Performed metallurgical failures analysis.
• On site metallographic replication to evaluate the metallurgical condition (thermal degradation/ creep rupture/ creep crack growth/ thermal & mechanical fatigue/ stress corrosion cracking/ fast fracture/ and etc).
• Creep assessment and evaluation based on VGB-TW507e code.
• Performed hardness survey on site and laboratory.
• Performed positive material identification (PMI) on site.
• In-charge corrosion protection project on BP economiser elements.
• Supervised welding repaired carried out at HRSG unit, Peterhead.
• Supervised NDT inspection and maintenances job during Cockenzie Power Station outage.
• Witnesses hot trevi test on steam drum to ensure they are save continue in service.
• Research on materials creep properties and heat treatment effect.

I took one of TWI project- Solid State Joining Method (Friction Stir Welding on Titanium 6Al-4V) as my master degree industrial research project. Thesis aims were:
• The effectiveness of “Stationary Shoulder tool” during performs the Friction Stir Welding. Does it able to reduce the heat generated in Titanium due to poor thermal conductivity of Titanium.
• Investigate the possibility of tools element diffused into the weld zone by using 3 different shoulders (SiC, Si3N4, and W-La2O3).
• Characterized the microstructures evolution.
• Chemical analysis.
