I have over 10 years experience in the field of fuel and lubricant Technology. More specifically, I have a strong background in oil refinery processes.

Also, I am an expert in standard and non-standard analyses and tests of petroleum products in a modern laboratory environment.

I have worked for BP in Athens as Plant Supervisor with a contract.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

09 - 15 - 1999 to Today
Research fellow in the Laboratory of Fuels Technology and Lubricants of National Technical University of Athens (NTUA)
I am responsible for standard and non standard analyses/methods of testing fuels and lubricants, as
well as for measuring exhaust gas emissions from stationary laboratory engine after the use of modified
conventional fuels (marine diesel and JP-8 mixtures with biodiesel) with improving attributes (including
their lubricating properties). During my PhD research I supervised students of the 8th semester of the
School of Chemical Engineering for their laboratorial and lesson exercises in the course "Technology of
Fuels and Lubricants" and “Technology of Natural gas and Petroleum”. Also, I supervised students of the 7th semester of the School of Mechanical and Naval Engineering for their laboratorial exercises in
the course "Fuels and Lubricants" with private contract and convention of work with the NTUA.
Finally, I supervised - as assistant of Professor E. Lois- seven diploma theses of Chemical and
Mechanical Engineers of the NTUA.
I studied the effect of the tribological characteristics of various products of oil (gasoline, automotive
diesel, marine diesel and aviation fuels) in the operation of the automotive fuel pump system and fuel
injection system (including valve operation) using HFRR. Research and production of anti-wear
commercial synthetic products and examination of their behavior on the physicochemical properties of
the fuels.
Analyses of liquid fuels and certification of their quality with suitable standard statistical methodology (EN, ASTM, DIN, ISO, API, UOP) under ISO 9001 methodology. Liquid fuels: Light and middle distillate fractions of oil (petroleum), gasoline fuels, diesel fuels, marine fuels and aviation fuels of all grades according to the Greek and European legislation.
Production of vegetable oils (also essential ones) with solvent extractions. Research of the most
appropriate solvents and suitable conditions for better extraction. Analysis of their physicochemical
characteristics and properties for use in automotive vehicles as fuels. Innovative research
on the anti-wear performance of essential oils on metal surfaces.
Model production of biodiesel from waste fried oils. Production of biodiesel from various oils. Research
of catalysts for the reactions of the transesterification.
Experimental investigation of emitted air pollutants (NOX, COX, PM10) from static experimental diesel engine Petter AV1 burning diesel fuels and their mixtures with biofuels and diesel-water emulsions.
Early stage investigation for the concentration of chlorine in the transportation fuels in Greece.
I am very well to excellent familiar with the below instruments of analyses: Gas and Liquid
Chromatography (GC, HPLC) for fuel compositional characteristics (including PIONA analysis), Scanning electron microscope (SEM) concerning the tribological properties, Raman Spectroscopy,
Spectroscopy AAS, Infrared spectroscopy analyses, spectrophotometry, standard and nonstandard
methods for analysis of vegetable and animal oils, biodiesel, lubricants and fuels with the instrument
“Karl-Fischer” as long as it concerns their physicochemical properties (iodine number, number of
saponification, acidity, total number of acidity, bromine number, content in chloride, content in water),
the tribomechanical instrument HFRR for the measurement of fuel lubricity and other standard analyses
of fuels (distillation points, content in sulphur and nitrogen with ANTEK analyst, content in potassium,
content in phosphorous, viscometry, measurement of density, measurement of the chemical
composition of gasoline fuels with near-IR instrumental analysis and calculation of their anti-knock
properties, vapour pressure, surface tension, conductivity, dielectric constant, flash and smoke point,
cold filter plugging point (CFPP), calorific value, oxidation stability for lubes, ICP-MS, cone penetration and other).
I have participated in the following research programs/works (with private contract):
