1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

To Human Resources Department,

I am currently looking for an engineering position (CV below). I had lived in the United States for 18 years and had gotten an A.S. degree in Computer Science, a Bachelors and Masters degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Florida before moving back to Brazil. I am originally from Brazil and I have now been living in Brazil for the last 2 years.

I consider myself well qualified, solutions-oriented, hard worker, outgoing, fast learner, reliable and a good planner specially in the areas of materials science, corrosion of reinforced concrete, steel and concrete mechanical testing, and civil construction AutoCAD drawings.

I would like an opportunity to discuss with you my qualifications and what you can expect from me. I thank you in advance for your time.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

OBJECTIVE

To obtain a position in the materials science engineering field. I consider myself well qualified, solutions-oriented, hard worker, outgoing, fast learner, reliable and a good planner specially in the areas of materials science, corrosion of reinforced concrete, steel and concrete mechanical testing, and civil construction AutoCAD drawings.

SUMMARY OF QUALIFICATIONS

AREAS OF EXPERTISE
Materials Science
Identify Tendons with Symptoms Indicative of Corrosion Damage
Non Destructive Vibrational Testing of Tension to Identify Potentially Distressed External Tendons of Post-Tensioned Bridges
Testing Reinforced Concrete for Corrosion Damage
Corrosion Prevention and Durability Prediction of Chloride-Induced Corrosion of Reinforced Concrete
Corrosion potential measurement & monitoring
Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), Polarization Resistance, and Electrical Resistance
Mechanical testing of steel beams and concrete samples
Microstructure analysis of steel specimens
Civil Construction AutoCAD Drawings
Teacher of English as a second language

CORE COMPETENCIES
Hands-on experience in the laboratory on testing different concrete specimens (with and without corrosion inhibitors) for corrosion damage using different testing techniques
Hands-on non destructive vibrational testing of tension to identify potentially distressed external tendons of post-tensioned segments and columns in bridges
Helped develop advanced data processing methods to perform rapid evaluation of data from large populations (thousands) of tendons in bridges
Helped design and develop vibration test field equipment, analysis procedures, and a portable field equipment prototype with simplified operation to permit testing by a single-operator
Hands-on experience in the laboratory on mechanical testing of steel beams and reinforced concrete samples, heat treatment of steel specimens, and some metallographic examination of reinforced concrete samples for failure analysis
Proficient in computer use including MS Office, AutoCAD, MathCAD, Ansys, and some MatLab

PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS

REPORTS FOR THE FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (FDOT- U.S.A.)

Validation and Practical Procedure for Vibrational Evaluation of Tendons. (March 2008)
Results of Detailed Analysis of Vibration Testing of External Tendons in the High Level Approaches of the Sunshine Skyway Bridge. (March 2004)
Corrosion Resistance and Service Life of Drainage Culverts. (August 2001)

PROFESSIONAL PROFILE

CRBBM Aug 2010 Present
Teacher
Teaching English as a second language.

University of South Florida, Tampa, Fl, USA Feb. 2000 May 2009
Research Assistant
Research on corrosion of reinforced concrete and vibration testing of post tensioned tendons in bridges.
Laboratory/yard tests and a field survey were conducted to determine how chloride-induced corrosion limits the durability of reinforced concrete culvert pipe, and to revise as needed Florida Department Of Transportation guidelines for predicting durability. Tests conducted included: pore water pH measurements, open circuit potential (Eoc) of the wire, polarization resistance, concrete resistivity, electrical resistance (was measured between the wire and the titanium mesh using a Model 400 Nilsson soil resistivity meter), and electrochemical tests. For the electrochemical tests, a Gamry Instruments Portable Multistat was used.
Measurement of the vibration spectrum of a tendon excited by a small lateral impact or disturbance was conducted in a specially build tendon test facility and it can provide quantitative indication of the tension acting on the tendon. This research provided validation of basic assumptions and verification of tension obtained by the vibration method against independent load cell measurements with tendon segments of size, length, and tension levels comparable of those used in actual structures.
Mechanical testing of steel beams and reinforced concrete samples such as failure analysis,
yield strength, ultimate tensile strength and elongation, compression, shear strength, and flexural strength and modulus and some metallographic examination of reinforced concrete samples for failure analysis.
Teaching Assistant
Assist professor in grading of assignments, prepare, proctor and grade tests, and assist students with questions for AutoCAD, Materials Lab, Materials Engineering, Corrosion Materials, and Reinforced Concrete Design subjects.
Prepared the material for the class assisting the professor and helped the students drawing AutoCad, assisted students preparing for tests such as steel hardness, heat treatment of steel specimens and grain size determination of steel specimens and concrete materials after microstructure analysis.
Showed students how the process of corrosion works with simple experiments and assisted them in preparing concrete samples for strength analysis and the correlation to the water to cement ratio. Also helped students in solving reinforced concrete design exercises.

Catalano Engineering, Tampa, Fl, USA Aug 2006 Apr. 2007
Auto Cad Drafter
Prepared civil construction AutoCAD drawings of reinforced concrete structures, reservoirs & water tank details, foundation design, and load analysis for permitting.
