CV/Resume Details
1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

A hard working, reliable and highly attuned individual. My previous and current employment has taught me valuable interpersonal skills and the confidence to work effectively on my own. Depended upon to manage resources and interact with clients and different stakeholders within organisations, I am acutely aware of the importance of Health, Safety and Environment in the work place. I have been responsible for procurement using an online ordering system, interaction with representatives from major suppliers and for communicating Health and Safety protocol to new employees. Also working in both the laboratory and field throughout my studies has allowed me to illustrate my ability to work safely and effectively in both the natural environment and with potentially harmful equipment and substances. This has challenged me to synthesise novel techniques in which I carry out my work, for example exploring different approaches to field sampling and laboratory experimentations with live organisms. Highly versatile and passionate about environmental legislation and managing environmental impact and the current challenges it faces; I feel resourceful, methodical and highly motivated within this industry.

I have always been interested in environmental issues but over time became more aware of the scale and complexities of these issues within industry and society and ultimately decided to pursue an academic qualification in this area. Passionate about animals, I chose to undertake a Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Biology which I have enjoyed studying and continue to study now in my Honours year.
This year I have devised my own research project in the feeding and energetics of the blue mussel (Mytilis edulis) and autonomously carried out the necessary field sampling and laboratory experiments, illustrating my resourcefulness, motivation and scientific skill. I would be interested in using the skills I have acquired during carrying out my research project in the oil and gas industry, possibly using the blue mussel as an indicator species for the study of the effects of oil and produced water on the environment and hopefully give insight as to whether Produced Water Injection Pumps are worthwhile.
Field and laboratory activities at University and manual handling in the workplace have made me familiar with health and safety regulations, policies, procedures and quality control/risk assessment scenarios. The laboratory environment has showed me that I can be depended upon for delivery of important data and the software used for control purposes. My experience in producing lab reports and essays (through data interpretation) will be a useable skill in the collection and analysis of environmental data and compiling environmental reports.
On a personal level I have a cheery disposition and the drive and tenacity to succeed. My supervisory roles have taught me to challenge people when necessary and the maturity to listen and learn from others.
I hope you consider my application favourably and I look forward to hearing from you.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

Blair Drummond Safari Park, March 2008
I was involved in the care, cleaning and administering of medication to safari park animals. Worked as part of a team interacting with the public, handling birds of prey for display and assistance with sea life displays. During this time I was responsible for educating visitors in the importance of rehabilitation of species in captivity due to their endangerment in the wild, for reasons such as habitat destruction and environmental change and subsequently I developed a keen interest in environmental based studies.

Deveron Veterinary Surgeons, 2001 – 2003 (holiday periods/evening surgeries)
Assistance and observation in consultations and farm work: observing operations, administering intravenous and subcutaneous injections, preparing vaccinations, assist in monitoring vital signs during operations.
My time at this placement enhanced my interest in chemistry and biology and the links between them, particularly a curiosity for the effects of chemicals at a cellular level, an interest which I decided to pursue, along with my passion for the environment, by undertaking a degree in marine biology.
