Which shows that I am a safety and health and fire practitioner with over 35 years work experience, 12 years within the oil and gas industries.

My key skills are:- A qualified instructor able to prepare and deliver safety, health and fire training; prepare and review company safety policies in conjunction with management; conduct, monitor and record environmental surveillance; management of health and safety.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

Present Semi Retired since 2003: - Since I have been semi retired, I have been very active doing computer courses such as ECDL, computer build and maintenance, also over twenty courses with learn direct at Peterlee College, & Walkers Learning Centre Peterlee. I have also done some safety courses and some safety consultancy work, I wish to continue work, using my good experience and safety professionalism.

¨EMPLOYMENT HISTORY: Zueitina Oil Company, PO Box 2134 Tripoli, Libya.
Safety Unit Supervisor, E.P.S.A. Fields, 103A, 103 D. Also Zueitina Oil Terminal.
September 1997 to 2003.

My duties and responsibilities are as follows: - Advise management in order to assist it to fulfil its responsibilities for health and safety. Inform managers and engineers and other relevant staff of revision to existing legislative procedures. Carry out inspections to identify unsafe working conditions and practices and make recommendations to remedy any defects found. Advise on injury prevention; investigate the cause of accidents and recommend codes of practice to prevent reoccurrence. Ensure that all contractors receive adequate safety training, ensure that all records and registers required by statute, concerning health & safety are maintained. Shall advise on safety aspects in the design and use of plant and equipment and shall carry out the checking of all new equipment before commissioning. Shall hold appropriate meetings concerned with specific investigations and to review safety and health recommendations received. Shall ensure that all fire prevention measures are complied with, shall maintain liaison with other departments and outside authorities in matters concerned with health and safety.

ªAchievements include: Established good working relations with engineers and field management, resulting in updating safety inspections and hazops, created a good safety culture and safety awareness, trained some colleagues on personal computer usage and provided troubleshooting and support.

¨Pirelli Construction Ltd: Jubilee Line Extension and Upgrade project.
Safety Engineer/ Advisor: January 1997 to August 1997.

My duties and responsibilities were oriented to the work being conducted on the Jubilee Line Extension and Upgrade project. Conducted daily work site safety monitoring reports; this was to ensure the project workforce were in compliance with the personal protection equipment regulations 1992 and the construction design management regulations 1994 & 1996 modifications. Investigated and reported on all accidents/incidents. Attended the project weekly/ monthly safety meetings. Improved where necessary the safety performance, to create a positive safety health awareness attitude at all levels of management and workforce.

ªAchievements include: Set up and implemented Confined Spaces and Breathing Apparatus courses for construction staff, created a good positive safety and health awareness attitude for all staff.

¨Veba Oil Operations PO Box 690. Tripoli, Libya, GSPLAJ. Safety Specialist group 14.
January 1992 to December 1996

Responsible to senior management in Tripoli for the efficient running of a safety and fire station, on a large oil terminal together with all the associated equipment. Directed a team of fifteen safety and fire fighting personnel in the performance and the implementation of all matters relating to safety and fire in a large oil terminal, oil fields, and refinery. Accomplished the training of Libyan and expatriate personnel in the dangers of H2S and fire, related to oil field production and maintenance activities. Expedited routine administration task associated with the efficient running of a large safety department. Was on standby relief for any incidents on any of one of the four main production fields and the main Rasco oil refinery and large oil terminal, and also a busy category six airport.

ªAchievements include: - Implemented an H2 S and fire training programme for all staff in all field locations, this also included helping to set up First Aid training.

¨A.D.C.O PO BOX 202 Abu Dhabi U.A.E. Senior Field Inspection Engineer (Safety and Loss Prevention)

Responsible to and to advise senior management in Abu Dhabi for the supervision of the regular inspection and testing of all fixed and portable fire fighting equipment, such as ring mains, fire pumps, fire protection systems. Took action on major and minor defects and supervised the repair work, investigated all accidents and emergency incidents, to determine the root causes and took action to prevent the reoccurrence. Carried out regular safety and fire inspections of all facilities equipment and working practices, conducted loss prevention audits, hazard identification assignments. Helped to implement a safety management system and also suggested and reviewed inclusions to safety manuals.

ªAchievements include: - Researched, analysed, and identified all anomalies and errors in the design of some fire suppression systems. Twice awarded safety incentive prizes, for inclusion work to safety manuals.

¨Veba Oil Operations PO Box 690. Tripoli, Libya, G.S.P.LA.J.
Safety Specialist Group 14. 1987 To 1991.

Was responsible to senior management in Tripoli for helping to set up and start up the provision of four large safety stations, and also the main fire station at the Ras Lanuf oil terminal. Implemented the initial safety and fire training programme for Libyan and expatriate personnel. Helped to upgrade all major fire suppression and safety systems, safety manuals, work permit systems, and the airport fire and safety installations. Stood by during the Amal 350 km oil and gas pipeline installations, and accomplished a very good safety record on all drilling rigs during the drilling of numerous oil and gas wells.

ªAchievements include; - Surpassed the company’s expectations for the implementation of the safety and fire training programmes.

¨Krupp I. T. Steel Works Construction, Misurata, Libya, G.S.P.L.A.J.
Fire and Safety Training Officer, 1988 To 1987.

Was employed at the Misurata steel works complex, one of the worlds largest construction projects that included a power station, tank farm, & LPG station, as well as office blocks and expatriate housing. Formulated and implemented a fire and safety programme, both basic and advanced, and on site training and welfare for Libyan nationals. My duties also included a certain amount of English language teaching, whilst helping the English language schoolteacher.

ªAchievements included; - Saved Money/Time, Saved more than £250,000 on fire fighting equipment and training time.

¨King Abdulaziz International Airport. Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
Fire Crew Chief. February 1985 to February 1986.

Employed at a category nine airport and one of the biggest in the Middle East. Responsible to the Chief Fire Officer for the charge of a fire crash and rescue station on the airport complex. As officer in charge of a first line appliance, my duties encompassed the training and welfare of a multi national workforce, plus the routine administrative tasks associated with the efficient running of a large fire service.

ªAchievements included; - Trained /Developed, Designed and implemented training programmes for the entire workforce (200) plus to introduce new standards.

¨Carless Chemicals Ltd. Middlesborough, Cleveland, England.
Fire and Safety Officer. 1984 to 1985.


Responsible for all fire and safety procedures throughout the plant, which produced such dangerous chemicals as Formaldehyde, Carbon Disulphide, and other dangerous petrochemicals and gases. Helped to implement fire fighting training, maintenance of equipment, and breathing apparatus training. I also accomplished safety procedures on the site, and liased, with the duty Chemical Engineer concerning safety matters throughout the plant.

¨Home Office: Sunderland and Durham County Fire Services.
From Trainee Fireman To Sub Officer, 1973 To 1984.

v Two years with Sunderland Fire Brigade and nine years with Durham County Fire Brigade. Progressed from Trainee Fireman, through Leading Fireman to Sub Officer, as part of an eight hundred-man brigade; gained experience in most types of fires and fire prevention. Including ship board fire fighting at Sunderland, Seaham and South Shields docks, and when attending dangerous chemical incidents, including petrochemical plants and large processing factories and port facilities, also rescues, special services, at road traffic accidents etc.

¨Armed Forces Royal Navy: Worldwide.
From: - Apprentice to Leading Mechanical Engineering Mechanic. 1961 to 1973.

v Twelve years service in the Royal Navy engine room branch, progressed from Apprentice to Leading Mechanical Engineering Mechanic.
