| 1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory] |
Please regard this resume as a formal application for employment for the position of watchkeeping officer onboard your shipping fleet. I am a highly motivated individual with experience in a variety of sectors of the marine shipping industry. I believe that my background in both tanker and offshore supply operations has provided me with the necessary experience to begin a career in the oil and gas industry.
I have successfully obtained a diploma in Nautical Science from the Marine Institute of Memorial University Newfoundland. Furthermore, I have nearly completed my Bachelor of Maritime Studies that has provided me with skills relating to economics, HR Management, and industrial relations. My diploma in Nautical Science combined with my knowledge in business has provided me with quality seagoing and analytical attributes. Other practical safety oriented courses such as fall protection, confined space entry, and MOSH have reinforced my understanding of safe work practice. My training and education has provided me with a proficiency in liquefied gas, oil, and chemical operations and has brought me closer to attaining my goal of becoming a competent deck officer.
The work experience that I have acquired over previous years has provided me with great interpersonal and teamwork skills. I consider myself to have exceptional communication attributes that allow me to work well with others or independently. My work experience in the offshore supply field has provided me with a good understanding of offshore oil and gas operations founded upon safe work practices and procedures. This experience, in conjunction with my work experience onboard tankers, has provided me with the necessary skills and understanding to be successful in the oil and gas industry.
