My formal education specialized in Geophysics, in which I have a B.Sc. and a research M.Sc.
I have been employed in the oil industry for approximately five years in range of functions in acquisition and seismic data processing. This has included significant experience in seismic operations, seismic processing and IT. My focus has primarily been technical, and I have been fortunate in being involved in all aspects of the acquisition process, from acquisition, data processing, to systems administration. Along the way I have been exposed to a wide range of hardware and software and have acquired extensive IT skills. I have had to develop the ability to rapidly learn new software, hardware and operating systems, and I feel confident in being able to handle any technical challenge.
I am currently working for Geotrace Technologies Cairo branch as an Operation Geophysicist. I have been engaged in data processing, systems administration and computer center operations.
I have traveled extensively and I am more than happy to do more. Quality and HSE have always been emphasized, and I consider myself to be highly aware of the potential human and environmental consequences of practices of the industry. I have QHSE responsibility in my current position.
I have a proven ability to work in different disciplines in a variety of circumstances.

IT and Systems Administration:
Support and maintain all facets of the center’s systems, including hardware maintenance and support, network maintenance and support, and non-seismic
applications software.
I was working with the following hardware configuration:
• IBM Winterhawk 2B80
• 136 Linux Clusters
• 7 raid disks with a total capacity of 56 TB
• Tape drives: 3480/3490E, 3590, 3590E, 8mm, DLT 8000, LTO2<O3
• Sun Sparc station used as plotter server
• OYO GS636 Plotter thermal black & white plotter, HP DesignJet colour Plotter
• Cisco Catalyst 4006 Switch
I was working with several Operating Systems like:
• IRIX (Silicon Graphics SGI)
• RED HAT Linux

Responsible for the change over to the Diamond system (a new processing software developed by Geotrace) -hardware and CentOS operating system
Conduct periodic back-ups of critical file systems on mission critical systems in addition to user or manager specified files or directories
Perform a monthly inventory of all computer equipment and peripherals

Geophysical Applications:
 Assist as needed in Data Reformatting and Geometry Application/QC:
• Reformat of field data into Anser internal format
• Geometry building (for geometry checking are used LMO displays) and trace header updating First Break Picking using ANSER first break picker
Build a near surface statics model (the first break picks are input into either the Hampson Russell or Renegade software)
Performing Statics Calculations and the resultant source and receiver statics exported in ASCII format
Velocity Analysis
Produce and update maps and charts relating to current processing projects:
• Converting global coordinates (UTM or WGS84) to plane coordinate systems (local systems such as Egypt Red Belt, Egypt Purple Belt or Egypt Extended Purple Belt) using Blue Marble Geographic Calculator and Excel.
• Building various types of maps combining satellite maps with sps files to obtain a general image of the survey. Those maps were build using Global Mapper v8.01 and Green Mountain – Mesa software.
• Digitizing elevations from the old sections using software like Surfer and Adobe Photoshop

Computer Center Operations:
Maintain inventory of consumables (tapes, print cartridges, plotter paper, etc.) with responsibility to monitor usage and recommend replacements in good time
Maintain a database inventory of all tapes entering and leaving the center, as well as organizing the tape library
Responsible for tape copying operations
Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the center’s infrastructure, for example, but not limited to UPS and battery maintenance, fire alarms and fire extinguishers

QHSE Advisor:
Responsibility for implementation of the QHSE system in Cairo and ensuring that action is taken to implant the system
Monitor and review the resources necessary to comply with QHSE policies
Carry out a formal review of resources every six months based upon the finding of a six monthly safety inspection.
Carry out a formal review of the HSEQA System to include :
• Customer requirements
• Results of audit reports (internal and external )
• Training needs

Prospectiuni Technical Experience (November 2003 – February 2006):
Recorders: I/O System Two, I/O Image
Energy Sources: Dynamite and vibroseis
Source Control: Pelton Shot Pro and Vib Pro
Testing Equipment: SMT-200
Navigation: Pocket GPS: e.g. Garmin with adequate software like Mapsource

Processing: Seismic data quality control and in-field processing using PROMAX software.
General Tasks for QC Geophysicis for 2D/3D acquisition projectt:
- Checking of the Observer’s Report for:
⇒ Identification of file number
⇒ The active spread
⇒ The noise tests, misfires, wrong reported SPs
- Check the daily SPS files (using MS Office and MESA software) and prepare them to be loaded in the QC Workstation
- Run 2D/3D Land Geometry Spreadsheet / Check the 2D/3D geometry
- Basic processing for 2D Brute Stack
- Processing for 3D Stacks
- Prepare the documentation to be forwarded to the Client together with the field records:
⇒ Fill the Observer’s Report with drilling / loading data and complete with necessary remarks
⇒ Finalize SPS files according to requested header and correct the wrong reported Source Points with the real Station ID and with the actual coordinates.
⇒ Plot the Swath Sketch and the Swath Map
⇒ Compute and plot the fold diagram (MESA and ProMAX)
⇒ Finalize all files referring to the field tapes records
⇒ Transfer all documents on CD-ROM
⇒ Edit Letter of Transmittal to forward all data to the Client
Drilling: Little Beaver, Balco, MiniTruck, Heavy Rigs

Project Planning: 2D/3D projects.
Acquisition work program planning and control.
