1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
It's tough for someone working in construction to switch their path towards Oil & Gas, but I believe these two industries have a lot in common, and am keen on making the move soon.
I have been in the cost engineering field for the past 3 years, working with Consolidated Contractors International Company (CCIC); the construction giant of the Middle East. My experience is mainly in large construction projects in Oman and Yemen. Academically, I have a Masters degree in Engineering & Management and am, just recently, a certified PMP from the Project Management Institute.
I have so far been successful in my field, continuously seeking to learn more and improve myself. I am confident that, even though you have a different working environment in Oil & Gas, I have the ability to catch on quickly and become a productive member of your team. My strongest points are my flexibility and communication skills; I am bilingual in Arabic and English.
I hope you find what you are looking for in my resume. Please feel free to contact me if you need any further details.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]
My current position is Sr. Office Engineer (Cost Control) with Consolidated Contractors International Company, the biggest construction company in the Middle East. My experience is in remote areas working on heavy civil construction projects. I have had my share of estimation and tender preparation, but the majority of my experience lies within the fiel of cost control, earned value management and cost forecasting.
3. Education & Training - CV/Resume Part 3 [Mandatory]
My most recent achievement is passing the PMP Credential Exam from PMI in September07.
I have attended various courses in project management and teamwork during my work with CCC.
As for university studies, I have an MSc in Automotive Engineering. This might sound technical; but this was an international masters program in Germany and not only about engineering. The courses were split into 50% Engineering and 50% Management (project management, operations management, quality control ...etc).
My Bachelor's degree is in mechanical engineering from the University of Jordan. I graduated with a 3.32/4.00 GPA ranking the 2nd on my class, and completed my 3-months training in Northern Irelend with the IAESTE exchange program.
Before that, in school, I studied under the British system, sitting for IGCSE and GCE exams from the University of London and Cambridge University during my last 4 years of schooling.
4. Computer Skills - CV/Resume Part 4 [Mandatory]
I am very proficient in Microsoft Office applications; mainly Word, Excel and Powerpoint. Most of my work is with excel, constructing complex spreadsheets with various functions and pivot tables, producing graphs and analysis.
As for softwares related to construction, I do have a background in Primavera P3, and am going on with a self study of the new version P5.
5. Other Skills - CV/Resume Part 5 [Optional]
I have excellent communication skills. My native language is Arabic, but my English is also perfect because my first years of schooling were at the American Community School in AbuDhabi.
As for other skills, people refer to me as a leader and a people person, quickly fitting in.
I believe I have strong analytical skills, ability to work under pressure, and to be multi-tasking.
6. Additional Information - CV/Resume Part 6 [Optional]
I would like to stay in the field of Cost Control and Planning, but am looking to switch from Construction to the Oil and Gas Industry. I am very flexible in travel; it's a hobby.
