Currently I am working in UAE under Employment Visa for three years. My position is to oversee the Middle East market in providing the following services. Providing Routine preventive maintenance, servicing of all electrical switchboard/switchgear (450Vac to 6600Vac), alarm and monitoring system, fire detection and generator automatic control system for shipyard and offshore market. On top of that, my job includes liaising and interacting with clients on a daily basis to provide technical support and solutions. Manage inquiries, surveys and quotations for retrofit works. Supervising various construction, maintenance and services (onshore / offshore), marine, oil and gas and petrochemical projects. Coordinating and assign teams of service engineers and technicians for jobs and ensure completion on time. Lastly being Responsible for ensuring customers’ satisfaction with our after sales services & maintain service revenue growth.
Previously, I am working for Alstom Transport involving the Circle Line Project. I have been given opportunities to commission the latest state-of-art electrical equipment of the underground tunneling system around Singapore. My task as a Switching Engineer is to plan and execute the switching activities for the 22Kvac and 750Vdc system for the 29 new underground stations. I am involved in the testing and commissioning for the electrical switchgear for the upcoming new stations progressively.
In my former job as an Electrical Engineer, my main areas of focus were in formulating, developing and implementing the maintenance of electrical related equipment found in the Chemical Plant producing Polymers to Wharehouse Packing. I have had excellent opportunities to work directly with various contractors in commissioning on their respective electrical systems. As an Electrical Engineer, I was also responsible for the daily and smooth operational matters of the Plant in keeping them in optimal operation at all times. The job scope involved the operation, maintenance, overhaul, testing, repair and installation of all types of electrical equipment in the 22KV Sub-station; supervision and/or design of engineering works and the preparation of reports, system procedures, and collection of statistics. Also included was the planning schedule for the preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance work of the Plant and arranging job assignments to the respective Contractors. Planning of budget for purchasing and tendering of equipment spares for the next financial year, including maintenance contracts. Involved as a Safety committee member, ISO9001:2000 and ISO14001:1996 Internal Auditor. The new target plan is to achieve OSHAS ISO18001:1999.
In the previous experience, I assisted in the commissioning group for the main Boiler and Turbine system in the Power Plant. I was also involved in the latest 400KV System that is generated and connected to the Singapore network Grid. As one of the commissioning group team, my specific role talks about the commission of all electrical components from 400KV Switchgear to various protections relay. I worked with the teams of Power Grid relating to the smooth Energization of the 400KV-230KV-66KV Switchhouse. Due to the recent expansion of the Stage Two Project, I also assisted to comment on the CCP (Combine Cycle Plant) and expansion plan of the Stage Two 400KV Switchhouse being on my past year of experience Senoko CCP Gas Turbine and Stage one 400KV Switchhouse respectively.

My duty is to develop the PTW (Permit to Work) office for the planning and preparation of all PTW office safety documentation and preparing procedures to elaborate safety tools lists with appropriate quantity and technical specifications to carry out Switching Operations safely & efficiently. This includes planning and issuing a safety permit to work system to Contractors, site witness testing and switching with Singapore LTA (Land Transport Authority).

Coordination with all CWC (Civil Contractors) & SWC (System Wide Contractors for other electrical and mechanical services) representatives to maintain full operational safety of the energized networks. To plan and co-ordinate with all CWC & SWC representatives the switching activities to ensure no other party is unduly affected by the switching activities.

Other tasks also include elaborating the 22KV Testing and Commissioning procedures, record sheets and Permit To Work before submission to the Client or to the Consortium. Carry out plan, schedule and implement of preventive and predictive maintenance works including work procedures, reports, safety precautions, labour & equipments, spare parts and material procurement. Trouble-shoot and take corrective action for electrical/instrument equipment failures / breakdowns in order to minimise production downtime. My duties also included coordination between Contractors, Operations and other departments involved in the maintenance works. Planning the schedule of annual shutdown program and budget for the plant ancillary systems.

Contributed and participated in the project engineering study of electrical/instrument works in the plant facilities modification, revamping or upgrading. also included involvement in starting-up of the plant facilities and commissioning of new equipments and facilities. Conducted technical investigations of plant problems, evaluation of findings and recommendations of countermeasures to prevent recurrence of the problems and upgradation of the facilities. Carried out modification and installation of instrument and electrical equipments in order to improve plant efficiency and safety. My responsibility also included conducting training to both operators and contractors in daily operations and maintenance works respectively. Being a safety committee member, my task was to recognize the plant hazards and improve the safety aspects in order to minimize the Loss Time Injury (LTI).
