Air Traffic Services Instructor / ATA Academy - Johannesburg

Carry out duties as an ATS Instructor at the Aviation training academy in Johannesburg, South Africa.

Tasks Performed:
1. Provide theoretical and practical training for students.
2. Carry out all related administrative tasks.

1. Work very closely with clients based in Paris, Monaco and Africa to ensure that the correct personnel were recruited for various offshore positions worldwide.
2. Chairman of Disciplinary committee when tasked to settle disputes with contract workers. This also involved having to represent the company in dealings with the CCMA.
3. Managing contracts and pay queries on behalf of my Executive Manager.
4. Managing a newly constructed site office in Luanda, Angola during a transition period. This involved establishing business with new clients as well as improving relations with existing ones..
5. Managing the transfer of personnel to and from Walvis Bay during the Girassol Project. This involved being on site and being available to deal with any internal and external queries.

R & B FALCON DRILLING: April 1997 – 31 July 2002

Worked as a Radio Operator offshore onboard the drill-ship Peregrine III, West Africa in a multicultural environment. During this period I also had the opportunity to work in the North Sea under the Norwegian sector onboard the Seaway Falcon as a Worksite Administrator and as a Project Administrator, (Quality), in West Africa onboard the Seaway Polaris.

Tasks Performed:

1. Supplying of a Flight Information Service during helicopter operations between offshore platforms within a 10nm radius of the Rig Instillation as well as between the Instillation situated approximately 200 nautical miles offshore and land. (Drill ship)
2. Supplying and co-coordinating of full Search and Rescue facilities as required. (Drill ship)
3. Continual monitoring of all available Aero VHF and Marine VHF/HF Frequencies (includes Morse code monitoring) (Drill ship)
4. Maintaining a constant communication link between Rig Instillation to shore. (Drill ship and Pipe laying)
5. Updating computer databases, network troubleshooting, satellite tracking (Drill ship)
6. Maintenance of NDB as per weekly requirements. (Drill ship)
7. Stocktaking, Chart corrections, General administration, Fire watch. (Drill ship, FPSO and Pipe laying)
8. Helicopter refueling.
9. Preparing of daily offshore report’s for submitting to Nanterre, Paris. (Pipe laying)

Worked part time as a Radio Operator onshore after successfully completing the Marine Radio License (HF Restricted). Duties included the monitoring of all associated VHF / HF frequencies as well as the completion of daily monitoring reports.

Carried out the duties of a qualified Aerodrome Air Traffic Controller at Rand Airport, Johannesburg Airport, Lanseria Airport and George Airport and worked as a validated Approach Procedural Controller at George Airport. Also had the opportunity of working at Johannesburg briefing and Alexander Bay, (AFIS station), during my training including the manning of the Johannesburg Information frequency.
