I am looking for a new exciting challenge where I can optimally use my skills and experience as Chief Engineer on DP rigs. Preferably semi submersibles or ultra deepwater drillships.
2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]
From February 2003 till Present;
Technical Coordinator - Chief Engineer for Pride International, Pride Rio de Janeiro SS-60.
I joined the rig during the construction phase, a semi submersible DP class 3, Amethyst design. I was responsible for the follow up of the mechanical completion, commissioning and start up of the rig including the sea trials. Acceptance trials for ENI and Petrobras were done. Now we are drilling offshore Vittoria in the Golfinho Field, Brazil. As Technical coordinator I am responsible for the technical installation of the rig, including drilling and Subsea department.
During the commissioning I was able to work close together with the Project team Petrodrill and Pride. A lot of improvements were done and is still on going.
- Quick closing valves which is a part of a safety system in case of emergency. The system was modified so that actuators were closing only in emergency. Before the actuators were closing by themselves due to hydrostatic pressures which are part of the design in a semi-submersible rig. The modification was done during the commissioning and tested during the sea trials + acceptance trials.
During the commissioning and start up I was also acting as Chief Mechanic, all tests witnessed during the trials and for Lloyd’s Class.
Drill floor equipment Maritime Hydraulics, Emsco National, Varco, etc…
Huisman 40 ton pedestal cranes and Huisman riser handling crane + BOP crane.
Caterpillar 3612 engines with Lips CPP azimuth thrusters
DP system is Alstom together with Kongsberg Acoustic system.
Maximo 4i CMMS system as maintenance program.
Permit to work system, Job safety analysis, FMEA and STOP program.
From February 2000 till February 2003;
Worked as 3rd and 2nd engineer on an ultra deepwater DP drill ship class 2 Pride Africa offshore Angola for Pride international and drilling in the Girrasol field.
I joined the vessel after the commissioning and witnessed the sea trials and acceptance tests for Total and Sonangol.
Day to day preventive and corrective maintenance as second assistant engineer. I was the fist year working as a ballast control room operator after my promotion to first assistant engineer I was acting as the night Chief Engineer.
DP system is Cegelec 900 together with Sonardyne Acoustic system.
From January 1995 till February 2000;
Worked as electrician and 1st electrician on merchant navy vessels, Chemical tankers in particular for Ahlers maritime Services.
I started as electrician, electronician but decided to do the marine engineer exams as I felt limited on the electric site. As soon I got my engineers license I was promoted to 3rd engineer and later on 2nd engineer.
From November 1993 till January 1995;
Working as electronician in the repair shop where I started my career.
From November 1992 till November 1993;
Military Service in the Belgian Navy. Petty Officer and active duty on operation in Somalia on board A961 Zinnia. I was honored for my job done as electronician in the operation ' Restore Hope '.
As team member of the power squad we repaired the sabotaged harbor power plant of the port in Kismayo and inland in Bandar.
From July 1991 till November 1992;
Started my career as electronic technician, repairing all kinds of communication equipment in a repair shop.
