1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
I am writing a small introductory cover letter to firstly introduce myself and secondly give you an insight into my experience and some qualifications. Although these are clearly stated in my Curriculum vitae
I am a time served welder that has currently worked offshore and onshore in the petrol-chemical/Shipbuilding/OIL sectors. I have current codes (ASME 6GR) in low carbon steel and stainless. I am currently unemployed due to me studying for my CSWIP 3.1 Welding inspection certificate which I am doing on the 28th Jan 2008. I have my offshore (BIOSET) survival and (UKOOA) Medical. And I am also certified for (IRATA) rope access. This is something I love doing and is something I want too ecxcel to hopefully gain higher levels. Hopefully in the inspection or the NDT sector in the future. As rope access technicians have more of a chance to gain employment in this field. During my working life I have worked in planning and inspection roles.
As for experience I have 17 years experience of welding. I served my time in Ferguson’s Shipbuilding LTD (10years) working on various types of vessels. From Offshore supply vessels to tugs and passenger ferries and LPGC. Then after numerous years the management moved me into the planning department for a couple of years. Learning more about build strategy’s for the vessels/platforms. Unfortunately I was made redundant in 2002. After this low point in my life I was given the chance to worked abroad contracting for various companies and countries were I gained lots of experience in on/offshore contracts. I was then employed by SLP Engineering in Lowestoft. Where I gained experience in offshore production platforms and accommodation modules. In this role I worked closely with the site inspector learning about inspection methods and duties involved. I have been involved in new build modules and platforms as well as hook ups and I have a lot of experience in the repair sector from bops’ too capstans and drilling equipment..
As I have said before my aspirations are too become a welding inspector (CSWIP) as this is something I have wanted too do since becoming a welder. Although I realize to gain employment away from welding I have had to sponsor myself to gain more experience in the inspection field to go along with my rope access experience. So I can achieve my goals in life.
I am hard working, enthusiastic and always willing to learn new skills with a proven track record of competence. I am also looking to relocate to enhance my prospects of employment in the very near future...
I thank you for this chance in gaining employment with your company and I look forward hearing from you in the very near future.
