CV/Resume Details

1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

After seeing your advertisement I have become interested in the post as Pipe and Gas Pipeline FE engineer. I fill the requirements of having experience in FE software in particular ANSYS. Moreover I have taught ANSYS FE for vibration modelling to MSc students while at ISVR, University of Southampton. This involved using SOLID42 elements for modelling vibration in a simple flexiglass structure. 3D modelling using 486 PCs was some challenge. Meanwhile though, my current pursuit in research has been Spectral FE modelling for fluid-filled pipes. A significant project in acoustic detection of corrosion in buried pipes using low-frequency detectors is underway. This uses cheap technology and is in collaboration with Aalborg University DK, Kaunas University LT, and ISVR, Southampton UK currently. Representing KTH I am expecting to lead a consortium of partners for EU 7th programme funding for December 2009 for evaluation, testing and implementing remote acoustic sensors for pipeline monitoring. This could also be an advantageous opportunity for Ramboll Pipe and Gas to be involved!

I hope I have caught your attention and I could take the opportunity to tell more about myself qualifications and experience personally.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

Above all I am a specialist in structural dynamics and sound propagation especially in developing numerical methods for ground vibrations and building acoustics. The projects have required both development and committed engagement. For example recently I have been cooperating on an exceptional project with a Japanese research group on controlling railway vibrations from the Bullet Train using a combination of road tyres and concrete. A curious but successful combination!

During the previous year I have been employed at the Marcus Wallenberg Laboratory for Sound and Vibration (MWL), KTH in Stockholm. I am working with a FP6 EU project CANTOR based on transportation noise research for cars, trains and ships for the coming 20 years with respect to the European Noise Directive (END). Previously I have been a visitor to MWL as a Marie Curie Research Fellow through 2001-2003 on leave from university lecturing post.

For 15 years I have had experience in gathering measurement data and modelling noise barriers for railways and road traffic in the UK and Sweden. I still have an interest with researchers at Vaxjo university on modelling aspects. During my stay at KTH in 2002 I carried out computational and experimental research on vibrations within composite sandwich materials supervising two visiting researchers from Italy and France and was a principal scientist for investigating detection of buried objects on the sea floor in the early 00’s.

My lifetime experience includes industrial plant vibrations, building acoustics, and environmental consequences of vibrations next to railways. The development of new FEM and BEM prediction models I have created as a consequence of these projects are being used by Deltarail and Deutsche Bahn today.

3. Education & Training - CV/Resume Part 3 [Mandatory]

In June 2002 I took my docent exam with KTH in computation modelling of traffic noise over barriers sitting on a mix of different soft or hard ground types. Most of the computational programs in noise and vibration at ISVR, Southampton or codes I have written myself but have trained and sometimes trained others in ANSYS, SYSNOISE and MATLAB to MSc students. I have taken courses in Abaqus while on a visit to Chalmers in Gothenburg in 1996.

My graduate and post-graduate training has been in applied mathematics specialising in FE methods and nonlinear analysis

4. Computer Skills - CV/Resume Part 4 [Mandatory]
ANSYS
FORTRAN 77/90
C++ (not expert)
MATLAB 7.0 (Finite element and pipe Finite elements built myself with co-worker)
ABAQUS, SYSNOISE and LMS LAB
5. Other Skills - CV/Resume Part 5 [Optional]
Clean driving licence.
Experienced rock climber.
6. Additional Information - CV/Resume Part 6 [Optional]
I live in Sweden and before I have been an academic visitor. I attend Swedish evening classes twice a week from Jan 2008 and find it a special place to live and develop. I consider myself to be enthusiastic, flexible and adept in learning new techniques and skills. Also I believe I am self-confident independent at work and stimulated by working in an energetic engaging group.
