| 1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory] |
11th February, 2008
Dear Sirs,
I am an Italian geologist and I recently performed my PhD under the direction of Prof. Maria Luce Frezzotti at the University of Siena (Italy).
My recent studies deal with the study of Igneous petrology, Volatile evolution in magmas, Fluid and melt inclusion research applied to volcanology, Mantle metasomatism, Laser Raman spectroscopic analysis of fluids in crustal and mantle rocks (Aeolian Islands, Veneto Volcanic Province).
During the last six years I have been working at the University of Siena on a project aimed at investigating the magma ascent rates and depths of crustal magma reservoirs, the evolution of the volcanic plumbing system beneath the Aeolian volcanic Arc (Aeolian Islands, Italy), and the metasomatic processes in the mantle beneath the Veneto Volcanic Province (northern Italy) trough the inferences from fluid and melt inclusions in crustal and mantle xenoliths.
I analyzed fluid inclusions hosted in quartz, olivine, orthopyroxene and clinopyroxene, by heating – freezing stage and microspectroscopy Raman and minerals and melt inclusions by means of EMPA, SEM and LAM-ICP-MS.
I worked also on a project offered by the “Department of Geosciences at Virginia, Polytechnic Institute and State University”, Blacksburg, Virginia (U.S.A.), under the supervision of Prof. R.J. Bodnar, as a part of my Ph.D. research in “Riequilibration time of fluid inclusions in volcanic system”.
Some of my scientific results are resumed in my publications. However, most of the obtained results have not yet been published: some of them will be submitted in few weeks, others are in progress.
I am now interested to proceed my scientific career focusing my attention on the Earth Sciences, with emphasis on solving problems in crustal, lithospheric or mantle dynamics on the basis of textural observations and geochemical analyses of accessory minerals.
