Company activity field: With a number of over 25 000 employees, Saipem is an Italian oil and gas industry contractor. It is a subsidiary of Italian energy company Eni, which owns approximately 43% of Saipem's shares. Saipem has contracted for designing and constructing several pipelines. While initially Saipem specialized on onshore pipelaying, plant construction and drilling, in the early 1960s it commenced also offshore operations.
Responsibilities: - coordinating the welding activities for several offshore pipelines projects; -managing 15-20 welders, one technician and one welder foreman; - ensuring the use of the correct welding procedures; - investigating all field welding related problems; - training in managing the SWS (Saipem Welding System), an automatic GMAW system; - supervising the Welding Procedure Qualification for different projects; - training in managing The Passo System, a semiautomatic GMAW welding system; - coordinating the Welders Performance Qualification for several projects.
My achievements: Although the targeted welding repair rate for Thai Oil Project was 5%, I managed to keep the rate below 3%.
