30+ years of experience in the field in all aspects of heavy/marine engineering. Refinery for 18years.

I served my apprenticeship in a shipyard in Scotland, installing main engines and all associated engine room equipment.1971-1976
I then joined the merchant navy as a junior engineering officer to 4th engineering officer, performing all engineroom operational and maintenance activities. 1976-1980
I then was employed by the M.O.D. as a hydraulics weapons movement technician. 1980-1984
I was made redundant from the Naval dockyard and found employment with a marine salvage and construction company in the southeast of England.1984-1987.
I then decided to emigrate to Canada and was employed with various companies working in the pulp and paper, hydro power and co-generation installations.1987-1991
I was then employed in an oil refinery in the maintenance department working on all rotating equipment.
With that came the responsibility of overseeing work being done at shutdown and new installations.
Minimum down times are attributed to, Vibration monitoring and analysis, equipment reliability are core practice along with environmental impacts.

I am educated to O level and have gained my City&Guilds mechanical maintenance.
Hydraulics courses, all types of refinery related safety and environmental courses.
I have offshore survival, HUET, Coxswain and fast rescue craft training.
