Post graduate in instrumentation engineering, having over 18 years of experience in Maintenance, Operation support, Reliability and Engineering of instrumentation & control systems in petrochemical and Gas industry.

Worked at various levels in Maintenance and Engineering sections in various organizations. At present working as Senior instrument engineer to lead maintenance and reliability departments in SABIC-GAS, Yanbu, Saudi Arabia.

DETAIL SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONAL EXPERIENCE

ENGINEERING & PROJECTS:

Experienced in the following activities.
•Preparation and checking of instrument index, loop summaries, instrument specifications and data sheets
•Sizing and selection of various instrumentation such as transmitters, flow meters, control valves, level instruments, on-line analyzers and sampling systems etc.
•Prepare enquiry specifications for all types of field instruments, DCS, Gas detection systems, Erection tender etc. Perform technical evaluation and recommendation
•DCS & PLC engineering, preparation of control system related engineering documents such as C&E matrix, I/O list, control narratives, logic drawings, control schemes, function & design specifications and finalizing DCS hardware etc.
•Preparation, review and checking of instrument plot plans, cable tray & JB layouts, hook up drawings, junction box wiring drawings, instrument air header schedules, cable & drum schedules, instrument loop drawings, E/I interface drawings, etc.
•Review and development of P&ID, participate PHA / HAZOP studies
•Review and approval of 3D plant model for instrumentation
•Review and approval of Subsystem and Package vendor engineering & documentation
•Inspection and expediting instrument deliveries, attending FAT for DCS, Analyzers & Package units
•Coordination with other engineering departments, clients, licensors, vendors, suppliers & contractors
•Revision & change management during engineering, installation & commissioning activities and review of As-built documentation
•Conduct Technical audit for the complete project instrumentation design engineering
•Prepare man hours & cost estimates for various new sales projects

MAINTENANCE, OPERATION SUPPORT & RELIABILITY:

Working as lead engineer for the instrument maintenance and reliability departments and responsible for better availability and reliability of all plant instrumentation. Experienced in the following activities.

•Managing the planning, scheduling and execution of all maintenance related activities on the production facilities which include routine, non-routine, preventive, corrective and condition based maintenance
•Support operation and maintenance staff to analyze and troubleshoot the root cause of the plant trips, equipments failures and identify recommendation to resolve the problems. Perform RCA for repeated equipment failures
•Planning and execution of plant major turnarounds, PSSR and plant start up activities, prepare TA package and Gap analysis
•Participate in the technical review at appropriate stage of plant modification work, subsequent construction and implementation in accordance with company policy
•Prepare conceptual design package and scope of work for all plant changes, modifications, system upgrade projects and major maintenance activities
•Participate in PHA studies for plant modifications as a part of multidiscipline team
•Administrator for PSM - Management of change and Process safety information elements to control all the plant documentation, changes & modifications, conduct periodic meetings and perform PSM audits
•Ensure conformance to HSE & GIMS policy and procedures
•Formulate, review and update maintenance department procedures, work instructions, SOP, test & calibration formats and records keeping
•Identify plant safety & production critical devices, ESD and establish PM test procedures as per PSM mechanical integrity procedure
•Finalisation of annual maintenance and major maintenance contracts
•Identify and ensure availability of test and calibration equipments, contract manpower, spare parts and material for maintenance activities. Optimize resource utilization.
•Spare parts management, optimization and import substitution
•Create new spare parts and materials in the MMS system and follow up with SMO for expediting the delivery
•Provide support to SMO for vendor prequalification, technical bid evaluation for materials, services and contracts
•Review and approval of PRs created by planning section for materials, services and contracts, warehouse material inspection, approval of job completion certificates and invoices for payment
•Identify and track obsolescence of instrumentation and recommend alternate options
•Review of monthly KPI reports of the department and take necessary corrective actions
•Attend and conduct safety tool box meetings, monthly department meetings, periodic HSE & PSM review committee meetings
•Liaise with Operation, SMO, engineering services, contractors, vendors and equipment manufacturers
•Conduct various training and development programs for the instrument personnel
•Support planning department for the preparation of annual operating and capital budgets

INSTALLATION & COMMISSIONING:

Worked as Client side Project lead instrument engineer for installation and commissioning of various projects. Responsible and experienced in the following activities.
•Review of construction documents, finalization of Inspection test plans, time to time on-site engineering and contractor control
•Supervise site calibration & testing of all instruments and material inspections
•Supervision of instruments installation, Mechanical completion checking, Instrument loop checking, various field inspections and clearing punch lists
•DCS site acceptance test
•Site coordination with other discipline engineers, engineering consultants, process licensors, suppliers & contractors
•Prestart up safety review, punch listing ,Pre-commissioning & commissioning activities
•Review and approve site mark up and As Built drawings
