CV/Resume Details
1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
Dear Sir/Madam,
I am writing to apply for your vacancy. I am an experienced pipeline engineer and project manager, and am currently employed as an Installations and Commissioning Engineer. Having been with British Gas for over 25 years, I became a consultant for a National Grid pipeline in South Wales, a project worth over £1 billion.
The project comprises 300 km of 48” pipeline, a compressor station, and 12 installations. I am employed on the first phase of the project, which entails 200 km of pipeline with 6 installations. My primary responsibilities are for the installations which are 2 LNG export terminals, a pressure reduction site, block valve and pig trap sites. I also manage the design process for the pipeline. In recent months, my responsibilities have been extended by National Grid, to commission the pipeline and installations for the entire project.
Prior to this, I was a Project Manager with British Gas, where my responsibilities were for capital projects; from conceptual design, procurement, negotiating and awarding construction contracts, through to the construction phase and commissioning. I was responsible for a budget of £15 million, and carried out monthly financial and quarterly out-turns. I also dealt with emergency gas supply or incident situations. Prior to this, I held several managerial positions, dealing with a wide range of responsibilities associated with a gas distribution company.
I am also involved with the Institute of Gas Engineers, Gas Association of Great Britain, and I was the President of the Gas Association of Wales. I am also a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) assessor in Gas Engineering, and was a Voluntary Emergency Planner for the West Glamorgan County Council.
Given my previous experience, and knowledge of the industry, I feel I am a suitable candidate for your position.
