CV/Resume Details
1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]

To whom this may concern,
As you can see from viewing my CV, I have a sound background in electronics and communications. From serving four years in the army as a Systems Engineering Technician, I have gained valuable training and experience that is second to none. I have specialised on a modern and sophisticated equipment system in the form of BOWMAN. To help me stand out from the other technicians in the workshop, I placed myself on a course, which I completed with excellent results, to become a Bowman level 2 maintainer. This is one of the qualities I pride myself on; I am always willing to put myself forward to better myself in the area of expertise I am working on. The same can be said with the older military systems. I put myself forward to go on an ATacCS (Army Tactical Computer Systems) system maintainer course and a Ptarmigan access engineer course to help me become more deployable within the squadron.
It was determination to better myself like this that helped me gain my promotion. I showed that I was confident enough to take charge of situations and with my strong leadership skills made my seniors realise I should be promoted to Lance Corporal. In this role, I worked along side other technicians, but I also had the duty to help younger, less experienced technicians overcome the problems they faced. I believe I undertook this additional role with great ease and comfort, and never had a problem with the added responsibility.
Recently, I have been made redundant due to a downfall in the housing industry and the site I was working on was shut down. I was employed as a site operative on a large building site, but I now feel it is time to, rather than just work, make a career for myself. Initially, I started this position as it is a job involving much hard work but with no prior qualifications needed. This has enabled me to become self-sufficient, as opposed to the strict schedules in the military, and as a result, I have become a successful independent person. I showed great enthusiasm within this role, undertaking it with the knowledge that in order to get to work I would have to travel a round trip of 60 miles a day.
I have always had an interest in the oil and gas industry and this is a career I would like to pursue. I have not only researched the industry and roles working offshore, but have privately paid for offshore courses. Having passed an offshore medical, I completed a self-funded BOSIET course then further still, paid to do an upgrade euro course, in order to make myself more employable to the industry.
I would like a career in the oil and gas industry, in a role that I not only feel confident in, but one I know I will enjoy. Looking at my previous experience, you will see that this would be in a technical position, hopefully with the potential to rise through the ranks. However, due to my personal circumstances, I would be willing to undertake any role, in order to gain the vital experience needed to become a competent member of your offshore team.
Thank you for taking the time to read this and my attached CV, I look forward to hearing from you.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]

10/11/06 – 30/08/07 and previously in this same role dated 12/10/04 - 10/03/06
Systems Engineering Technician.
Aldershot, Hampshire.
This was a very enjoyable and fulfilling role and as a career, I would like to work in a similar role. I worked in a small workshop as part of a team of technicians supporting the rest of the squadron. I was responsible for the operation and installation, then with the use of excellent fault finding skills, the repair and continued maintenance of a wide range of military and civilian communication systems and networks. I also looked after the different IT systems used in the squadron and set up video conferencing, using Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) lines and satellites.

10/03/06 - 10/11/06
Systems Engineering Technician.
Operation TELIC VIII - Basrah, Iraq
I volunteered my services for an Iraq tour and was attached to another squadron to work in an operational environment. I worked in the Multinational Division South East (MND SE) HQ running the Military Services desk. I was constantly under pressure whilst manning this desk from senior offices, as I was the only military technician that was BOWMAN trained. I had to continually monitor links between headquarters and various mobile detachments around Iraq. Along with this I had to carry out general 1st line technical jobs within the HQ and set up Video Conferences back to the UK for senior officers using Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) lines or satellites as a back up.

Dated 01/09/03 – 12/10/04. Initially I was in basic training based in Lichfield, then secondly in my trade training based in Dorset. These long and sometimes strenuous courses prepared me for the challenges I would need to overcome to succeed in my army career. It was when I left training that my glowing reports and excellent attitude towards my role, granted me promotion to Lance Corporal.
