To: whom it may concern

I am currently exploring opportunities for employment within the petrochemical industry as a Safety Officer/Safety Training Officer /emergency crew chief, and would be grateful if you could please consider my experience and qualifications and advise on available opportunities. I am flexible re location but would prefer to work, at least initially, on a contract/rota basis.

I have over 30 years experience on the fire ground and in fire safety,on occasion dealing with oil refinery sites (Beoco,Shell uk,Union oils,Ellsmere port site,)both in emergency situations and planning/building consent representing the fire service. Participated in emergency planning. I have also authored post major incident fire investigation reports. Rising to the rank of watch commander and have recently gained the NEBOSH certificate, have successfully completed city and guilds skills assessor, open water survival training (COET) and recently been accepted as a member of IOSH (Tech) and working towards graduate level.

During my career with Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service I have worked as an enforcement officer and in an educational role (Fire Prevention), as a fire fighter, and Watch Manager (equivalent to degree level) with responsibility for personnel management, training and tactical leadership on the fire ground.

I have received 2 Chief Officers’ Commendations for fire rescues and recently was presented with an Award from the Liverpool Ship Wreck and Humane Society for a difficult single handed rescue of a disturbed and armed person in danger.

Though I will be a new entrant to the petrochemical industry, I will bring a gravity of experience to the health and safety role I seek, and am confident that I have both the technical, management and inherent people and organisational skills required.
