I presently work for North Link Shipping as a Chief Officer, and posses a Class 2 Mates Certificate of competency. I have worked in the merchant navy for a number of years, primarily on Passenger / Cargo ships
However, I have come to a stage in my career where I wish to pursue a new challenge.

2. Work Experience - CV/Resume Part 2 [Mandatory]
I have had a passion for working at sea from a young age. I started my sea faring career in the fishing industry, where I then went on to complete the mates fishing certificate at Stromness Nautical College.
As the fishing industry began to decline, I switched to a career in the Merchant navy.
Firstly, I completed study for my certificate of competency at Stromness Nautical College. I was then employed by P & O Scottish Ferries as an A.B. of which during this time I completed further study before securing my position as Second Officer.
Recently, I studied at Glasgow Nautical College to complete the Mate / Master certificate, which included a H.N.D. in Nautical Sciences.
I am presently serving as the Chief Officer on the Northlink vessel, Hrossey and hold my Pilotage Exemption certificates for Kirkwall Harbour and Lerwick Harbour .
I have recently taken part in Rig Shifts on a Adhoc Basis with Interocean Services
Throughout my career, I served for 21 years with the RNLI, latterly as a second coxswain. Sadly, I had to stand down from service in 2001, as I relocated to Aberdeen.

My position as Chief Officer onboard the Passenger Vessels M.V Hrossey, requires me to carry out safety talks and weekly boat drills, which require effective communication to all levels of staff. The ability to communicate at all levels is imperative when carrying out emergency drills with experienced and non- experienced personnel.
As on Officer on a passenger ferry, I also have to deal with the general public on a daily basis, answering any question they may have.
