1. Summary (Cover Letter) - CV/Resume Part 1 [Mandatory]
At present I am in the North Sea on oil/gas platform but I am looking for a change of employment and would like to apply for the position of Instrument Technician.
Most of my working life has been abroad and offshore,including FSO experience, but I have got onshore experience as well. I have been in supervisory positions which has involved my talking to management on a day to day basis and attending daily progress and work meetings. Within these positions I have been involved with and enjoyed working in a multicultural environment and I am used to extreme environments. I must admit I prefer the hands on roll of Instrumentation and class myself as a good mixer with people and a fully committed team person.
I am conversant with preventive,corrective and breakdown maintenance and compliant with P&ID, loop and logic drawings and the use of CMMS systems Maximo and Avantis. I have a good knowledge of DCS, PLC, F&G and ESD systems. Involvement in engineering of new equipment ,installation and commissioning of same and hand over of relevant signed paperwork to client or engineering department.
At present I am using a PC based permit to work system, ISSOW.
2006-Present Offshore North Sea oil/gas compression platform, Nuova Pignoni
and reciprocating Dresser Rand compressors.
Maintenance,preventive,corrective and breakdown with
commissioning of new equipment. CMMS orientated using
Maximo and Avantis. Electronic permit to work.(ISSOW)
1990-2006 Dugas Dubai Senior Tech offshore gas compression facility. Maintenance on five compressors, all driven by Rolls Avon engines. Power provided by Dresser DC990 and Ruston TA’s. Control system for compression is by Hawker Sidley MMI(Wonderware package) and power control is by Di tronic for Dresser and Modicon for Ruston. Three stages of seperation with associated equipment. Working on companies MTBE chemical plant/gas processing plant(LNG) with Allen Bradley PLC and GE FNUC logic system.
1987-1989 Babcock APG North Sea maintenance, Total Alwyn North. General maintenance and breakdown fault finding. Platform is covered by a Ferranti fire and gas panel and a Bailey DCS control system on the process side. Three Ingersoll Rand water injection pumps and associated coarse and sand filters. Glycol regeneration package, storage accumulators and reboiler. Freeon compressor(York) motor driven, two pipeline compressors(Cooper Rolls) governed by Entronic panels. Offshore survival course No 13665
1983-1986 Technicare Int. Dubai onshore gas facility extension. Supervision over twenty TCN instrument personnel precommissioning commissioning to online status. Extension included De-Etheniser,De-Propaniser, gas compression(2) one centrifugal,one positive displacement. Hot oil heaters and reboiler facility. Control by Modicon PLC and Honeywell DCS. Also commissioning offshore six leg platform consisting of Dresser DC990 power generation, three stage seperation and gas compression by Dresser compressors driven by DC990 jet engines. Associated equipment controlled by Modicon 984 PLC.
1982-1983 Craddock Eng(USA) Ivory Coast,Phillips, maintenance(Lead Tech) on jack up platform converted for production. Two stage seperation, test seperator, flare system, instrument air control. Wellhead control by Sheaffer and controllers by Foxboro/Yokagami. Fire and Gas panel by Elliot/Walter Kidde. FSO experience.
1980-1982 Roxby Eng. Abu Dhabi offshore commissioning gas gathering platform for ADNOC. Three stage seperation, glycol units,GEC Elliot gas compression and power generation units. Delaval Stork propane compression,refrigeration and remote flare. Honeywell/Yamataki controllers.
1975-1979 Grootcon UK Offshore Phillips Norway, hook-upon two oil/gas platforms. Including calibration,commissioning and bringing to on line status. Plant included seperation, glycol/reboiler facility. Power generation by Kongsberg and gas compression by Pignoni. Visual and printout by GEC.
1965-1975 British Steel Served apprenticeship on various sections of open hearth steel plant. Final four years involved in maintenance on oil fired power station.
Compliant with Permit to work system. Involved in setup of Preventive maintenance programme required for ISO 9002. Regular first aid and firefighting and coxswains courses with present employer.
DCS and PLC experience. Honeywell TDC, Bailey(DCS).Yokagowa DCS
Proficient with most test equipment. Involved with instrumentation including:- GEC/Elliott, Masoneilan,Fisher valves, level controllers. Smart transmitters and associated hand held Hart programmers.
Various temperature measuring systems Rosemount etc. Scama, Panalarm panels. Orbit /Sheaffer ESD valves.
Compliant with electrical,pneumatic and hydraulic instrumentation,as built drawing,P&ID and logic drawing literate. Fire and gas systems and ESD shutdown systems fault finding on same. Bentley Nevada vibration systems 3500 model.

Trade education was to CFE standard and i gained IMCC 2 in Instrumentation
