Conversant with Painting/Coating/wrapping procedures, Saudi Aramco standards, PDO standards etc. & paint manufacturer data sheets like AMERON, HEMPEL ,BERGER, RAYCHEM, SIGMA ETC. Coating systems like Alkyd Enamel Coating, aluminum pigment alkyd coating, Epoxy coating, Inorganic zinc primer, High Build Polyamide, MIO, Polyurethane, Epoxy Mastic coating, Glass Flake epoxy Coating, Coal tar Epoxy, Epoxy coating inorganic zinc primer water based/solvent based and FBE Liquid coating for buried service piping, pipelines and heat shrink sleeves and Belzona Coatings, Tape Wrapping etc.


HANDS ON PRACTICE:

Various painting/coating, visual inspection of abrasive, grit, garnet, blasting/painting/coating by using the following measuring instruments: Whirling Hygrometer, dew point Calculator, Testex Tape, Surface Profile gauge, Keanatator Comparator Torch, Surface Profile Gauge with Disc, Orifice Gauge, Hypodermic Needle Pressure Gauge, Holiday Detector, Wet Sponge Pin Hole Detector, Chloride Detector SCM 400 salt tester, Dolly Test, Peel Strength Gauge, Hardness gauge & Impact Test etc.

Duties and Responsibilities: Surveillance/Inspection of painting/coating system of the following infrastructure.

• Internal, external coating of pipe of Various Sizes of 1” to 68” diameter.
• Spools & supports structure above ground, underground piping.
• Coatings of high temperature. Piping & internal Lining/external coating of tanks, vessels, field-joint Coating.
• Monitor/Inspecting the coating activities by the contractor on a daily basis
• Ensure that the painting/coating inspection and testing activities on pipelines are
Performed and completed as per the project specifications by the contractor.
• Responsible for all required inspection hold points that have been established by the project specifications.
• Ensure all reports that are required with project specifications.
• Ensures proper storage and preservation of coating material on site

• Brings any safety, environmental, or security issues to the attention of the QA/QC Supervisor

Work involved industrial maintenance painting and expansion in ONGC Hazira Operating Plant. Here I shouldered responsibility as QC Inspector. Majority of structure and piping was coated with multiple coating systems: epoxy primer, high build 2nd coat and PU final coat. Structures were painted using one coat of bitumen and three coats of aluminum top coat. Two coats of coal tar epoxy was used for gratings, platforms, plats etc. Various other coating systems were used for SS, GI and heavily corroded pipes. For underground replacement section of pipelines, shrink sleeving was carried out.

Majority of structure and piping was coated with multiple coating systems: epoxy primer, high build 2nd coat and PU final coat. Structures were painted using one coat of bitumen and three coats of aluminum topcoat. Two coats of coal tar epoxy was used for gratings, platforms, plats etc. Various other coating systems were used for SS, GI and heavily corroded pipes.
