Maintenance Technician
Aug 2003 – Present Cogent & Centrica Storage Limited

I now have almost 5 years experience working with instrumentation in an offshore environment on the Rough 47/3B Platform. I feel that I have become a valued member of the team with which I work. I enjoy the work and have learnt a lot in the time I have been here. I consider that I am very adaptable and able to work on my own when required. My main duties have been the maintenance of instrumentation, including fire and gas detection/protection, pressure, level, flow and temp measurement systems, HVAC and field input/output devices.

Calibration Technician
Nov 2000 – Dec 2001 Metnor Great Yarmouth Limited

Duties included the calibration and maintenance of electrical and mechanical process instrumentation, pump and control panel maintenance and assembly.
I worked in a small department that was responsible for its own certification and quality control.

Whilst at college I had seasonal positions at food outlets, where I was employed to serve the general public and work as a member of a team.

Training)
This was a competence-based training and assessment in Onshore and Offshore technologies. Facilities included custom-built resources with realistic working environments. ASET have one of the most advanced and realistic training resources available, having an oil rig simulator identical to the Brent Bravo Platform/Pumping station. The Course is OPITO approved, and fully endorsed by the North Sea Oil and Gas industry.

• Basic Hydrocarbon Theory course
May 2003 – June 2003 ASET (Aberdeen Skills & Enterprise
Training)

Throughout this 6-week course, I covered subjects relating to methods of discovering, extracting and processing crude oil and gas. I also studied the dangers of H²S, methods of fire and gas detection, Process and Instrumentation Diagrams and the operation and uses of different valve designs.

• GNVQ Advanced Engineering
Sep 1999 – Nov 2000 Great Yarmouth College

This was a two-year course, which I left after 18 months to gain some real work experience; I passed all the modules, which I studied. During my time on this course I gained 6 passes.

• GCSE gained 4 Passes
