I am writing to introduce myself and to enquire as to the availability of a temporary or permanent position within your company commensurate with my qualifications, skills and experience.

You will see from my enclosed CV that my eighteen-year career within the shipping industry started as a Deckhand on anchor-handling vessels and progressed to Chief Officer and then to Dynamic Positioning Officer (DPO). My current role is working as a Control room Operator on a semi-submersible rig. I have gained a variety of skills and experience working with different DP vessels/rigs.

My experience includes working as a mate on chemical tankers dealing in world-wide trade and I am very experienced in tank handling and the loading/discharging of liquid chemicals. I have briefly worked as a step-in on a cruise ship, but found that I preferred working in the offshore business and returned as a DPO and Chief Officer. From working as a freelance DPO I have gained invaluable experience including serving as an SDPO on drilling, MPSV, cable laying, ROV, Survey, Construction, pipe laying, diving, trenching and ploughing.

Underpinning my DPO experience are my professional qualifications which includes a mates certificate and a number of professional training courses undertaken throughout my career working with vessel management and handling. I am also fully qualified and have extensive experience of working with Kongsberg, Simrad, ABB, Alstom, Nautronix and Cegelec DP systems.

On a personal level, I am a results-driven and committed team player who possesses a resourceful and innovative approach in the achievement of objectives, whilst projecting a positive and professional image at all times.
